Pontiac Tempest 1962 Description
The 1962 Pontiac Tempest is a very unique car by any standards. It was designed by the legendary John Z. DeLorean on his way up the corporate ladder at Pontiac. He designed the Tempest to come very close to having 50/50 weight distribution. This was done by mounting the 195ci Trophy 4 up front and the Transaxle in the rear. These components were connected by a torque tube and the curiously named "Rope Drive." This gave the Tempest very favorable driving characteristics. This top of the line Le Mans trim features front bucket seats and the not often seen convertible top. Our car was recently rescued from a local farm and is the quintessential barn find. This Tempest needs plenty of love but looks to be fairly solid. A touch of Rust on the drivers rocker seems to be the only spot that is worrisome. This car is available to be seen by appointment at Maserati Lotus Greenville in upstate South Carolina. Feel free to call us at (864)255-3593.
