Pontiac Firebird 1972 Description

The car started life as a base model Firebird with a V8 - 350 cid engine. In 1995 it had a ground up restoration at which time the Formula 400 trim was added and the 400 cid 4 bbl. HP engine and TH350 transmission was installed.

In the 1995 restoration the entire front clip was replaced and the rear full quarter panels and fenders were replaced. The hood is the fiberglass Formula hood with openings for ram air. The rest of the body and frame were rust free. The entire interior was replaced. There is less than 500 miles driven since the restoration. It has been garage kept the majority of it’s life.

The engine is a 400 cid 4 bbl code XH. We believe it is a 1970. It was completely rebuilt at the time of restoration. It has an Edlebrock intake with a QJ carb. It has a 1975 GM HEI ignition. It has an aftermarket performance camshaft which delivers a fairly rough idle. The transmission is a TH350 automatic and was also rebuilt at the time of restoration and had a shift kit installed. It has a high stall torque convertor and is using B & M Trickshift fluid. It has a 10 bolt rear end and is limited slip or posi traction. We believe the ratio to be mid to high 3. It has full dual exhaust with turbo mufflers.

Other features include power steering tilt steering column power brakes with disc front Pioneer stereo and speakers and snowflake aluminum wheels. Items that may need attention: There is some residual leakage on the lower engine and the transmission rear seal but it does not leave spots on the floor. The front rubber bumper has some cracking of the paint. We have some extra paint. The tires are in good condition but are over 15 years old. They show no signs of age or weather checking. They are P215/65R15.
