Pontiac Firebird 1982 Description
AWESOME CAR and LOW MILES for its age!! This is THE Firebird of the 80's!!! When Pontiac redesigned their flagship sports car they created not only one of the most aerodynamic vehicles ever but also one of the most recognizable icons of the 20th Century...KITT from Knight Rider! This car is just like the ones used to create the supercar with only two differences...This one has a carbureated engine instead of the crossfire fuel injection and has aftermarket rims instead of the turbocast ones with the "bowling ball" center caps. (I do have all four of the turbocast rims and two of the "bowling ball" center caps for sale for an additional price if you are interested and have included pics).I am not a mechanic but will say this about the car... It starts up and runs like a monster!! Not a drop of oil or fluid anywhere and only 87300 miles! I have driven this car regularly for the past several years and it is a head turner. I rarely pull up to a stop light without someone motioning me to roll the window down and ask me about the car or just give me a "thumbs-up". Cosmetically, paint job is much needed. It still looks great but up close, here is oxidation. It has the ORIGINAL paint and decals. The car has been kept under a cover, ut of the weather but all body rubber/seals should be replaced. As expected, he t-top seals should be leaking but ARE NOT! However, he window seals (at the top of the door) are leaking a bit. Vents on front (under headlights) are dry rotting and need replacement. Interior is the doeskin tan required for a KITT conversion and is in great shape. Driver seat has a tear or two but could easily be fixed. Headliner is ok but should be replaced/re-glued. Some water leakage has caused some discoloration on door panel but could probably be cleaned. This also has caused the power window motor on the passenger side to quit. Mechanically, he car is awesome! Engine runs like a top. A/C worked when I bought the car but does not now. I would assume it has a leak. Has R-12 system but could be converted to r-134a but would not recommend it. Car also needs some brake work.
This would make a great starter KITT conversion or an awesome restoration for someone who wants the ultimate 80's Trans Am!
