Pontiac Tempest 1963 Description

1963 63 Pontiac Tempest Convertible Convertable.
Automatic, 2 speed transmission, shift lever is on the dash .....
Rare 4 cylinder engine, designed by John DeLorean, .... the block is a 389 Pontiac block, using the 4 cylinders on the passenger side...... sort of like a "slant 4" ..... And with a long "rope drive" cable drive to a rear2 speed trans-axle.... like a Corvair.
only 90200ish accurate miles ..... (As I am still driving this car a little)..... Runs and drives great ! You would not know it is a 4 cylinder in driving it !!
New wheel cylinders, new brake shoes, 4 new tires, and a rebuilt speedometer.... It can use a new top..... Oh, it is a manual top.... it is intact, but well worn.....I only drove it with the top down, so, it did not matter to me ....
No power brakes, No power steering.Original Wheel Covers .....It leaks a little oil from the engine rear seal.Original carpet shows age, Rear seat extra nice, front seat has a rip or two, as covered by blue tape, put on by the prior owner....The muffler has a little rattle within it, you only hear when you shut the car off.... I think an internal baffle.....The photos show the old tires, there are new black wall radial tires on it now ....
I own the car about 5 years .... the prior owner, a friend, owned it about 22 years.....It was restored / repainted about 30 years ago, the original color ..... Though always garaged, it does show some aging.......some rust spots are showing through .... and it has some light body marks .... but it is very presentable as is ....
.....not mint at all .... but a very nice and unique driver ! A survivor, if you will .....I have an Antique Plate on it .... so, though it does not require an inspection, I have always had it looked at for safety and road worthiness.....Please write me with any questions.....
I always get lots of looks driving this car.... But it's time to down-size one car.....
When is the last time you've seen one ???
Comes with some extra body parts if wanted.... a hood, front fenders, and bumpers.....(none of which are better than the original metal on the car)....
No reserve .... The first bidder can be the new owner ! Or do the Buy-It-Now and be sure !!
