Pontiac Other 1948 Description
Outstanding custom street vintage wine lover tribute hot rod.Perhaps the most awesome 40’s Pontiac Streamliner Silver Streak Fastback in existence. This great car has been converted into a well prepared, easily driven, comfortable street rod that gets lots of attention. The perfect weekend cruiser. You will be smiling and so will everyone around you no matter where you go.Simply a beautiful fun to drive car and multiple show class winner.Expect to be asked for selfie duty next to this one.People want to be photographed standing by it all the time. Also be aware your area wine stores may want you to lend them this car for local events!
Starting with a fully boxed, original frame, the builder used a Malibu sub-frame.The rear uses 3:64 gears with a 3rd torque arm to fully strengthen the rear end.All new pinion, carrier, wheel bearings and seals have just been installed.
a 300 horse Chevy engine with an Edelbrock performer manifold, a 600 Holley carb and an HEI ignition. A built turbo 350 transmission shifts the car as it should. Might have a kit by the way it feels to me, but I’m not sure.A corvette master cylinder w/ proportioning valve assists the disc front, drum rear brakes and of course there is power steering. Like the rest of the car attention to detail is amazing throughout the engine bay.
A beautifully done tweed interior makes for a jaw dropping modern look like no other and a truly comfortable ride. When needed for additional storage, the back seat also slides forward. Matching custom Door panels, carpet, seat belts and headliner are in show ready condition. A billet Specialties steering wheel, tilt column, Dakota digital gauges, a removable faceplate AM/FM/CD with six speakersand Vintage heat and air complete the interior.
The exterior of this great street rod readily shows the talents of the builder. Doors are rounded to match the window contour as they meet the roofline rather than the straight line to the drip rail the factory did. Door handles are shaved and controlled by remote, fenders are molded to the body and rocker panels and rear quarter panels have been totally rebuilt with new framework and metal. The windshield, rear window and 3rd brake light have been frenched and molded to the body and there has never been any water leaks.
Other items included are the Tanks 18 gallon fuel tank and spare tire, battery and storage area are in the fully upholstered trunk that matches the interior. 15" wheels with original hubcaps, 39 Ford taillights, a hidden trailer hitch behind the license plate under a rolled rear pan, power windows, variable speed wipers with delay and electronically controlled remote mirrors. It has air-ride rear shocks, but I love the low stance and have never added any air. This is an absolutely outstanding street rod that is a true "get in and drive" vehicle.

Note: Full disclosure – always a policy of mine.I’m not a car dealer, but I have owned well over 40 classic cars and have been a member of many automobile organizations and even a president of a car club.Everyone who knows me would say I am an honest straight-shooter and when I sell a car I disclose anything I know about the vehicle.SO… The A/C does not turn on and I have not investigated why since I only drive it in perfect weather with the windows down and front center cowl inlet open which provides plenty of air flow, plus it just looks cool as you cruise in it. It was that way when I bought it and I never investigated why, might be just a fuse. The Oil Pressure gauge does not light up, but Dakota stuff is guaranteed for life, so you can send it back for replacement, I’m including a new Bosch under-dash mechanical oil gauge which I had decided I would install this summer then send in the gauge next winter. With the pending house sale & move, I have no time to install it, but its a quick job for anyone to do.The hood springs are chrome but weak.Heavy hood, so I’d recommend finding stronger ones. One hubcap came off at one time and does have some road rash, the other three look like new 48’s.The paintjob is 20 years old I think, so there are a few very minor flaws, but this car has won best paint in two local shows in the last year so the finish is remarkable overall and only on extreme close inspection are any small defects noted.People are awe-struck to hear the age of this paintjob since it looks so great and the one-of-one colors just pop.Not a trailer queen – I’ve owned a few of those and the paranoia and show prep is just exhausting, this one is for driving and pure enjoyment, but she does bring home the trophies if that’s your thing.Overall this is a very fine car that you will be very proud to own and drive!I’ve only had it for about a year (310 worry-free local cruising miles) and the only two problems I’ve had is a whine in the rear-end and after sitting more than a week or two the engine starts rough, but then is smooth – may be the choke, it has not been worrisome to me – maybe an electric fuel pump is needed or a fresh tune-up.For the whining sound I took no chances and had local classic car guru Dennis Hall rebuild it with all new NOS/NORS Bearings and seals. My honest appraisal: I think both the reserve and buy-it now is very fair for such a fine looking and driving modified car which would easily cost over $40K to duplicate.ONLY BID if you mean it and have the resources to buy it. Anyone will tell you it is a hassle free process to deal with me.You’ll LOVE owning this amazing classic.
