Pontiac Trans Am 1984 Description
1984 Mecham Racing Trans Am #74.Drive train has been completely replaced with a 1989 Trans Am set-up. 305V8 TPI with 52mm Throttle Body, new injectors. About 60k on current rebuilt motor. 700R4 automatic, also replaced the dash as well.Quick, smooth, and runs great. I drive this car at least once a week, fun ride, but needs to be finished. When I got the car the 305 quadrajet motor was gone, and the doug nash 4 speed was gone too(pedals changed out). So I replaced everything with a healthy rebuilt complete system from a 1989 Trans am. This car has been great, and has passed emissions the last few years without any problems. Fresh U-joints. Check engine doesn't come on unless you are cruising at higher speed for a while, then goes off next start-up. I believe this is due to the bigger throttle body 47mm-52mm(it did not do that previously). I have owned this car since 1997-98. Cruises on the highway 60-80mph very nice.
Has A/Ccomponentsbut never charged the system. Justreplaced the fuel-pump(correctly) a few months ago, and oil change. Interior in good shape seats(no rips) are from a 2000 Firebird. Upgraded rear air shocks for ride comfort. upgraded locking T-tops. Power windows. Headlights doors work(1989) as well. NewerFlow-master3" dual exhaust. This car is one of about 50 cars made in 1984 by MechamRacing. Will include the original factory 15" wheels that are correct for the car. Decal kits are still made through Mecham Performance in Phoenix, AZ. Has power mirrors, but never connected them.
Interior is in good shape, the front/ rear seats are good. Seats(no rips) are from a 2000 Firebird.Dash pad has a few cracks but is covered by a dash mat. Center console is 1984, and cover is in nice shape. Headliner is there but faded and not perfect. Front carpet is newer, rear is older but looks nice. Nice din 1/2 CD stereo with newer speakers. The windshield has a vertical crack in it.
The Exterior has been started we finished the rear panel near the fuel inlet. No major rust anywhere, but has some surface rust on the doors and fender where the paint is coming off. The front and rear bumper have some typical cracking for AZ. There is a dent right behind the right front tire under the fender that will need to be fixed to straighten out the fender. Tires are decent, show wear. Wheels are in nice shape with all 4 center caps.
I have tried to describe everything to the best of my ability. Please ask if you have any questions before buying. Buyer will pay for/organizing shipping and transportation costs.
