The Bad
The car looks decent but it definitely needs body work and paint. The paint does not shine like it used to and it is really starting to fade. The pictures posted are less than a year old, but the paint does not shine as well now. My plan was a complete strip and re-paint back to original black and gold. The front grilles are also in need of replacement as they have become brittle and cracked.
Rust. I tried to capture all of the rust spots in the pictures. Passenger fender bottom, bottoms of both doors, some spots on the rocker panels, rear quarters are bubbling behind the doors, and a few small spots in the trunk. There is a poorly done patch in the trunk that could stand to be re-done as well. Structurally, as you can see in the photos, the car is very solid.
Interior wise the car had the front seats re-done a few years ago. The material is not the correct hobnail and the drivers seat cover has burn damage (see photo). Rear seats are pretty nice and original. Center console is a few years old, gauge face was re-done by Randy Combs in the correct gold. Dash is in decent shape with some cracking as most do. T-Tops interior trim are damaged and some piece missing. Overall, decent driver quality but it really does need work.
The front windshield needs to be replaced. PO welded near it and did not cover it and left burn marks all over it. Same with the T Tops, but I have a spare set that will go with the car.
Mechanically, the car runs amazing. Starts real easy and will drive anywhere. I just did a 140 mile round trip down to the Cape yesterday and the car did not miss a beat. Only mechanical issue is every 40-50 shifts 2nd gear grinds. I do not know why, doesn't seem to follow any pattern. I was going to swap to a T56 so I never worried to much about it.
All in all it is a great driver, that really needs some attention to get to the next level. I want to switch over to an A-Body and that is the only reason I am selling.
Car is for sale locally as well, I will end the auction if a local deal is made. Contact me if you are interested.
There's a lot of information so any questions just let me know! I take really good care of the car, oil changes by time, not mileage. If you have any further questions message me or call 774-259-3393.
Thanks,Doug
