EXTREMELY RARE, SHOW WINNING, 1988 PONTIAC FIERO GT WITH T-TOPS, 5-SPEED, ONLY 23,000 MILES, ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER, AMAZING CONDITION, READY TO SHOW AND GO!!!
1 OF 614 FACTORY T-TOP FIERO GT'S EVER PRODUCED!!!
Regardless of whether you are an avid Fiero Enthusiast, owned a Pontiac Fiero back in the day, or knew someone who owned one, it is hard to argue with the statement that the 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT is going to be one of the iconic Pontiac Collectible cars as years go by. Among other things, the Fiero was the first 2 seater Pontiac produced since the 1938 Coupes. We all know that Pontiac used to build excitement and there are sure to be many exciting years to come for owners of low mileage, top quality, Fiero GT's.
I know this particular '88 Fiero GT quite well as I actually bought it back in 2012 before selling it to a great car enthusiast in Virginia. At that time the car had just under 20,000 miles on it and today, 4 years later, it has just under 23,000 miles on it. He thoroughly enjoyed the car and took it to quite a few car shows accumulating a nice collection of trophies as you will see in the pics that follow. He indicated that pretty much all the mileage he put on the car was driving it back and forth to the various car events over the past 4 years. Of course it remained in his climate controlled garagewhenever it was not being driven. He recently purchase another collectible car and decided it was time to let another lucky owner enjoy this rare T-top, Fiero GT. I jumped at the chance to purchase it back from him knowing how fantastic this car was and now someone else will get to enjoy her....maybe you??!! The history when I bought it in 2012 was that I purchased it from the 2nd owner who had purchased it in 2006. He was a Fiero Enthusiast and enjoyed showing it at various car shows including the Regional Fierorama Shows where it consistently won Best in Class each time it was shown. This car has excellent original documentation including the original window sticker. There is quite a strong following for these cars and you will find Fiero Clubs all over the country. This Fiero is still in show winning condition and looks almost exactly the same as when I sold it 4 years ago. While the car is certainly welcome at any car show or cruise-in, it is also a super fun, mid engine sports car that you can jump in and drive and enjoy while knowing you have one of the future collectibles that is sure to go up in value.
This Fiero GT is truly in near flawless original condition. I will do my best to provide you with enoughlarge images, a video of it starting up and running, and an honest description to help you decide if this future collectible should be in your garage. As with all of my classics I do have this car advertised on my website and several others. Therefore, if youdecide you want to scoop this red beauty up before the next car guy or gal does, feel free to call me to discuss how we can make that happen. I welcome overseas buyers and canassist the next lucky owner with a great rate on transport anywhere in the country. Sit back and enjoy!
This is truly one of those unique opportunities to buy a collectible sports car that was ordered loaded up with rare options and has truly been pampered and extremely well maintained throughout its life. Hard to believe this car is now 28 years old! The body is in fantastic condition and was never in any accidents. The original red paint still shines up beautifully. Upon close inspection you will find a few tiny rock chips along the hood that were touched up. There are a couple of small marks on the inner side of the drivers side sail panel glass that were there 4 years ago when I first purchased the car. I was told they occurred when the speakers inside the car were replaced. These are readily available if you wanted to replace it but as you can see they do not detract from the overall condition and beauty of this Fiero. I point out these minor flaws to let you know it is not absolutely flawless but I am confident the next lucky owner will be thrilled with the condition and it is a proven show winner. All of the original VIN stickers are present on the body panels. Pop-up headlights function perfectly. The body style on the Fiero GT is really quite sleek and this Red beauty attracts attention wherever it goes. Here is a walk around tour of the body:

Of the 6848 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT's produced, only 614 had the Factory T-Top option ordered and this is one of those rare optioned cars. This can be verified on the production sticker in the glove box what shows the CJ8 Code that indicates this was one of the cars that GM sent to Cars and Concepts (C&C) to have the T-Tops installed before it was then shipped out to the dealer. The T-Tops are in great condition and come with the original T-Top cover bags. They fit snug and and tight and do not leak. I recommend driving this car with the T-tops off as much as possible for an exhilarating open air experience.

When you slide inside this low mileage Fiero GT you will feel like you are in the Pontiac Showroom back in 1988. It almost smells new! The gray cloth seats compliment the red exterior beautifully and are in amazing condition with practically no sign of wear. Dash looks perfect, center console looks new, ash trays never used, carpeting looks great and original floor mats still look great. Power windows and power mirrors function properly. The original steering wheel and 5-speed shifter show no wear which is amazing. All of the gauges and lights appear to be working correctly and the A/C blows nice and cold. The 2nd owner had the A/C compressor replaced with a factory OEM unit and the system recharged costing him over $600 but the result was and still is icy cold air. The temperature gauge can be quirky on these Fieros and so was the case when I sold it 4 years ago. However the previous owner had the issue taken care of it works perfectly now. This GT was ordered with a nice array of options including the power mirrors, windows, and cruise control. It also has the very rare Performance Factory Sound Option with sub woofer. All of the speakers and sub woofer were replaced by the second owner. Overall the interior is simply show ready awesome! Here is a tour of the interior:

The Fiero's mid engine layout was chosen as a way to reduce aerodynamic drag and vehicle weight to improve fuel efficiency and for its handling, traction and braking benefits. The 1988 GT model is considered the most desired for many reasons. Numerous changes were made to the 1988 Fiero with the most significant one being a completely redesigned suspension to realize the full potential of the mid-engine layout. This new suspension included new two piece brake calipers and upgraded rotors. The GT model included the V6 motor with 43 horsepower more than the 4 cylinder, upgraded suspension and wider tires. Topping off the package was the new vented disc brake set up on all 4 corners. During the final year of production the Pontiac, MI plant where the Fiero was produced was shut down and Pontiac made the decision to cease production in February, 1988. There were only a total of 6849 Fiero GT's produced in this final year. Research shows there were some interesting comparisons of the Fiero GT to the Ferrari 308 and performance statistics would surprise the heck out of you on the Fiero. It is known that Pontiac purchased several Ferrari 308's for handling and engineering and comparison purposes. Some called the Fiero the mini Ferrari that was far more affordable.
With just under 23,000 miles on it, this particular '88 Fiero GT has really just been broken in and drives like a new one did in 1988. The 5-speed really adds to the fun of driving this true sports car. Tires were replaced at right about 19,000 miles with Eagle GT Radials and the previous owner put in a new battery. The previous owner also changed all the fluids and used Royal Purple oil and gear fluids. This car runs fantastic with no issues and sounds great too. The car really handles the run amazingly and loves to be run in the higher RPM range from time to time. The original Black painted wheels are in excellent condition. Front trunk area looks it did in 1988 and engine bay is extremely nice and clean. As you will see I have the original window sticker and all of the original manuals. Trophies that were won are also included as well as a custom fit car cover. Be sure to watch the video that follows to hear this Fiero start up and running.
