Pontiac Other 1933 Description
1933 Pontiac Five Window Two Door Coupe Street Rod/Rat Rod Project Car.First off let me start out by saying that this car has a perfect clear NJ title and current NJ registration with license plates. If you know anything about vehicles of this age, you know that is a rarity and is worth thousands right off the start. Most antique vehicles of this age come with only a bill of sale and you are on your own to come up with a title. That is impossible to do. I am the second owner of this car that was very well stored for many years in a very dry location.
I started to transform this '33 into a street rod. The frame has been boxed. Frame has been sand blasted and coated inblack epoxy primer with semi gloss black epoxy paint. It has a Ford 9" rear with leaf spring rear suspension. Rear springs are brand new. The third member is brand new. No rear brakes yet. Car rolls on Weld Racing rims with BF Goodrich T/A radial tires. Front tires are 205/70/14 and rear tires are 235/70/15.
Brand new Mustang II front suspension with new GM Big Caliper disc brakes. Everything is new including the spindles, coil springs, upper and lower control arms, cross member, rotors, calipers, steering rack, tie rods, ball joints, etc.
Fuel tank is clean and restored and also has a new gas cap. New fuel line runalong frame from tank to carburetor. Battery mounted remotely in the trunk. New battery cable routed through the frame for a nice clean neat appearance.
Thebody wasmedia blasted and coated in black epoxy primer. The doors open and close very nicely showing that the body is straight andnot twisted. The Body has 0% rust or rot. There is no pitting in the metal. I only sprayed three coats of primer over thecleaned shell. everything is visible through the primer. This includes where the seams were put together back in 1933 with lead. You can see the few little dents here and there as well. Nothing is hidden on the body. No body work. You can see that you are not buying a bondo bucket or a wrecked car. All the wood is intact inside the shell. The originalvinyl top from 1933 is in near 100% perfect condition and still shines like new with no stains or tears.
I have all new glass cut for the windows. Brand new 16 guage custom floor pan was installed with a small trans tunnel. Floor pan was purchased from Direct Sheetmetal in El Cajon CA. Included is a new 50% /50% split bench seatthat was custom made to fit the car. It is the frame and custom foam padding only. You will have to upholster to you interior likings.I have a brand newaluminum custom fit radiator and A/C condenser to match still in the packaging not opened. Also, new power brake set up not installed yet. Tilt wheel steering column out of a 1986 Monte Carlo SS installed and connected to the Ford Mustang II steering rack.Engine runs and starts from the key on the column.
Engine is a Gen I Chevy 350 with four bolt main. Engine code is 3970010. Transmission is a late model Turbo 350 that has been rebuiltand installed with a new torque converter.Rear gear ratio is 300:1 to achieve highway cruising. New Sanderson headers. New MSD billet electronic ignition distributor, cap, rotor, wires and plugs. New Edelbrock performer aluminum intake manifold with new Edelbrock Performer Series electric choke four barrel carburetor. New aluminum ball milled valve covers. Engine and trans have been set into chassis at proper height, angle, and location to the firewall. Driveshaft is included but not installed, needs to be cut down and fittedfrom the trans to the rear.
Radiator grill is included but not pictured. Car has no fenders, running boards, or engine hood. I can help you acquire these items if you are interested in putting them back on to finish the build. My intentwas to build a fender less rod.I am at an age that I don't feel that I can finish this project andit needs to go to someone who can. I have started a great foundation for someone to finish this project and now have come to terms that I have to let it go.
