Pontiac GTO 1968 Description

I bought this real deal, ocumented 1968 Pontiac GTO 4-speed as an unpainted rolling shell, ith a truck load of extra parts.

The installed odometer states "low 50k," but as the vehicle has an impressive 12.5+:1 compression ratio (requiring 111+ octane gasoline), have only put ~500 miles onto the beautifully-restored, orrect-style engine.

Having a real deal Ram Air I car is a big deal - even though this one is not numbers-matching, t's a wonder that the pieces were able to be cobbled together for this restoration, s only 600-700 of these cars were originally assembled. I started this project in 2007 because I am an old Pontiac car nut, nd at the time I didn't have a Ram Air I.

Engine is replaced 462 cubic inch "YF" with correct #506/#31 heads with 4-bolt caps (which sat UN-USED in my garage for the past 40 years [intake: 2.110" Swirl Polished GM 9792426; exhaust: 1.770" Swirl Polished GM 9792424]). The power is delivered to the Rally II / G70x14 red lines via a fantastic 4-speed manual Muncie.

Due to the spec and the original intent of this vehicle to DOMINATE the track, his engine runs extremely hot. It will not disappoint you, ut requires certain lead/octane/use standards that are far beyond your grocery-getting Tempest. Fuel lines have been replaced as part of this extensive 2007-2011 restoration.

The original console has a small repairable defect (but is original to the vehicle). Power drum brakes provide four-wheel braking, hich was likely done during this car's original & abused first engine burn out (the car originally was drums rear and disc front). We have kept it this way because this car is documented as an abused race track monster.

We are providing Pontiac Historical Society documentation, ut please absolutely obtain your own copy from PHS Documentation Service.

Further research indicates it was a Zone Brass Demo Comp Car in the Atlanta Zone. The 'J' in the invoice number field was for zone stock and the 002 for delivery was a correct zone code as well.

We are located 1 hour West of Austin, exas, etween Blanco & Wimberley, exas. We will provide the location for vehicle pick up (your own trailer or hauler).
