Pontiac Firebird 1989 Description
We are the original owners of this Trans-Am purchased new in 1989 from Connell GMC Pontiac Cadillac in Oakland, CA. by us in 1989. We moved to Indiana in 2006 and the car was moved here by Professional Auto Transport. The car spent most of its life in California and has always been garaged, never been driven in the winter months or in the snow. which means there is no rust anywhere. The interior is as pristine as the day it was purchase as you can see from the pictures with its black leather interior. The car has never been smoked in.We opted for the smaller 5.0L (305 ci) because we wanted the fun you can only have by being able to manually shift through the gears.
If you wanted the fun of the manual trans you had to settle with the 5.0L due to the high torque of the 5.7L with the manual transmission causing the frame to twist with the T-Top.Thus Pontiac made sure that all the 5.7L cars were equipped with the auto transmissions, so the larger engine was not available with a Manuel transmission.Keep in mind however that the 5.0L created 225HP when paired with the Dual Exhaust System (options code N10) which our Trans-Am has. Not only that but the amount of torque with the 3.45 rear end pins you to the seat with plenty of power from the 305ci.fuel injected
I have included a picture of the Service Parts Identification Label which is attached to the inside of the console that gives you all the options breakdown of the 1989 Pontiac Trans-Am GTA.You can check the options code on our car by simply going online to www.gtasourcepage.com/89RPOFigures.html
Of the 8465 production Trans-Am GTA’s made, only 366 were equipped with the five speed manual transmission, this is one of the 366.
The only parts that have been replaced are the alternator, battery, and the power antenna motor with OEM parts only. The fuel injectors were replaced at our local GMC Dealer around forty-thousand miles. The rear spoiler has a slight split which is common due to the composite material the rear spoiler is made of.There body is in great shape with no dents, dings or body problems other then the split on the rear spoiler. The black paint is original but has still has a very good shine due to being garaged it whole life, however there is some fading on the roof next to the T-tops on the front and rear and some superficial scratches. The car comes with a Pontiac Trans-Am Factory Bra and we will include a cassette tape which you can plug into you iPod or iPhone and play your favorite tunes through the fantastic factory sound system. The Fulda Quantum 245/50ZR16 tires are brand new with less then 3000 miles.
