Pontiac Trans Am 1979 Description

Please note that experience shows us that the photobucket of over 100 large pixel pictures posted here are in most cases best viewed and downloaded using the very latest and most updated version of the 'Firefox' browser as some other browsers and especially older browser versions are not capable of accommodating the size of the download. Over the years our clients have overwhelmingly been appreciative of our many unaltered large pixel photos posted in our ads and our feedback has been that it is very rare that a dealer will post all but the most flattering of professionally finished photographs. We prefer to post the many photos taken of the car, in sometimes unflattering but natural sunlight, in order for our prospective buyers to be able to see true and reliable images of the car advertised and that is the reason for some seemingly duplicated shots. We trust you will agree.

The car was sold new at 'Wood Pontiac Cadillac' of Santa Rosa, CA by its original and only California owner and still boasts its original California pink slip from 1979 and has only 43K original but undocumented miles. The interior still boasts its all original 'Solar Gold' color paint and very striking 'Camel Velour' trim with bucket seats with 'Hobnail' inserts. In 1979 4 wheel power disc brakes were available for the first time and the special 'Trans Am Performance Package' was offered featuring the optional 'K' code T/A 6.6L 400 cid 4 barrel V8 engine as boasts this particular car!
In 1969, the first of the fire-breathing Firebird Trans Am's, named after the Sports Car Club of America's late 60's Trans-American racing series, debuted as a Firebird $725 option package and boasted a potent Ram-Air 400 V8 with heavy duty suspension, steering and brakes and was fated to be a one year only model which went on to keep the Pony Car flame burning strong throughout the 70's virtually all by itself, when most of the other muscle cars either disappeared or dropped their engine displacements! Pontiac had no part in that sell out for its high performance Trans Am motors during the 70's and maintained 400 or 455 cid V8's even as the Corvettes and Camaros dropped to 350 cid and the Mustang down to 302 cid by mid decade.
This particular example was obviously the pride and joy of its previous single and original California owner was also obviously always garaged. It was sold to us as having 43K actual miles which would seem obvious considering it still boasts its original interior which is quite unspoilt and indicative of such low miles. The car was obviously always well cared for and is remarkably unabused for a Trans Am!
The paint is in quite exceptional condition with only some very minor imperfections, if any, only noticeable upon close inspection. The very striking 'Camel velour with Hobnail inserts' interior is in all original and very clean condition throughout with no signs of wear and every option is working.

This particular model must be driven to be fully appreciated - the car drives as good as it looks with no shakes or rattles with the considerable power of it's 6.6 litre 403 V8 engine! There are no noticeable oil leaks, the transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and the temperature always remains cool.

This is one very unique and rare and ridiculously attractive car original owner California car and this must surely be one of the few unabused example's left available of this 1979, the 2nd to last year of the legendary 2nd generation Trans Am!
