Pontiac Trans Am 1987 Description

I have a 1987 Pontiac Trans Am that has had a lot of performance work and new parts installed. I bought this car in 2006 and had plans to turn it into a street & strip / track day car. This year I decided I wanted to go dirt track racing instead and no longer have the desire to keep this car.
Here is a description of the work that has been done to the car:
New battery
New radiator
New 165 degree thermostat and gasket
Has Hypertech #4026 176-166 degree fan temp switch installed, nd an extra new in box Hypertech #4028 200-185 degree fan temp switch to come with it for a spare.
New Panasonic AM/FM CD player with remote control
New rear suspension components: New Lakewood square tubular rear control arms with poly urethane bushings, ew Monroe rear shocks, ew Energy Suspension polyurethane rear sway bar bushings and end links, ear axle housing was stripped of rust to bare metal and repainted with Rustoleum Truck Bed Coating (black), ew chrome rear axle cover and fresh Mobil 1 gear oil and limited diff additive, ear sway bar was stripped to bare metal and repainted semi gloss black. Rear end has factory posi trac and 2.73 gears. Brand new chrome rear end cover and hardware. Also has factory lightweight aluminum rear drum brakes.
Paint & Body: The body is very straight front to rear. Minor paint chips and scratches you would expect to see on a 28 year old car that has been driven. Paint has faded a little and clear coat has some flaking on the roof, ops of front fenders and top of rear quarter panels. Most of the car is still a glossy bright red that has a lot of sheen to it. There are some small paint chips on the front edge of the hood and the rear spoiler has some cracks in the corner. I was going to replace the rear spoiler if I was keeping the car. Could use a fresh coat of paint to bring it back to its original glory but doesn't need any significant body work.
Engine was replaced (upgraded from a 305 to a 350 with hydraulic roller valvetrain) by previous owner and has approximately 50,000 miles on it. Performance mods to engine that I have done include:
Jegs billet aluminum EGR block off plate
Upper plenum of intake manifold has been mildly ported and polished
Throttle body has been ported/polished and has a Hypertech airfoil installed.
Has aftermarket (eBay) polished aluminum cold air intake kit with re useable conical red & chrome filter.
Summit 8mm spark plug wires with heat protection sleeves over the boot ends.
The previous owner repaired the oil pan with either JB Weld or another epoxy at the front of the pan. It's not the prettiest thing, ut it works and does not leak. I put a fresh coat of black paint over the repaired area so at least it's all black. As inexpensive as a small block Chevy oil pan is, 'm not sure why he didn't just replace it when the engine was replaced. But like I said, t works and holds oil without leaking. The car runs very strong and smooth and does not over heat.
Has new Hoooker Comp (#2460HKR) headers that have been wrapped in DEI Thermal wrap. Headers were installed using stainless hardware and copper gaskets. Headers have 1-5/8" primaries and 3" collectors. I also re-coated the headers w/ VHT Flame Proof 1300 degree ceramic header paint before installing them so it would last longer than the factory paint.
The exhaust is what I would describe as an off road system comprised of a collector extension/downpipe and a Schoenfeld 3" dia. x 8"L muffler on each side. Its sounds loud and awesome but you may want to install a full system out the back if you want a little less noise or additional ground clearance. An easy option would be to build an exhaust using the direct bolt-on y-pipe that Hooker makes for these headers, art 16767HKR.
Front sway bar has Energy Suspension polyurethane end links. Transmission mount is also Energy Suspension polyurethane. Nice new custom made black tweed dash cover from DashMat. . The A/C and heater have been professionally removed for weight reduction and custom fabricated cover panels have been installed to close off the ports in the firewall. Also custom made trim piece for stereo that covers where AC controls were deleted (gloss black with silver Pontiac Racing logo). Car runs great. Has been garage kept since 2009.
I do want to disclose that the car does have blue Texas Rebuilt Salvage Title, nd it was titled this way when I bought the car in 2006. Per the Texas DMV website, ebuilt Salvage means that "it was branded “salvage” but was rebuilt to road worthiness. A rebuilt vehicle must pass safety and anti-theft inspections, nd other state-mandated standards in order to return to the road." The car was hit in the right front corner when it was owned by the previous owner, nd was deemed totaled by his insurance. It was a situation where it was estimated to be an approximately $3500 repair and the car was valued at around $5500 at the time due to age (this is the info that I was told by the previous owner, do not have any actual records of repair estimates, nsurance valuations, tc.). After closely inspecting the car I felt all repair work was professional and top notch and did not have any concerns about the drive ability, afety, r mechanical condition of the car. Nor have I had any issues with the body repairs since owning the car the last 9 years.
I also have some new extra performance parts that will go with the car too for the right price (if car is sold for $4000.00 or more ONLY):
Hays SFI Flexplate (new in box $95.00)
Procomp 190cc Aluminum cylinder Heads (1 is new in box untouched, he other head is 2/3 ported, hese heads alone are worth $500.00)
RCI 5 Gal. fuel cell w/ foam, ounting brackets, nd extra angled filler neck (all new and un-used, bout $165.00 of stuff)
Hayes Service Manual book
Extra 3" exhaust system components (90 degree mandrel bends, lamps, " X pipe, anger)
Sunpro Triple Gauge set (oil pressure, ater temp, mmeter)
We maxed out the allowable number of photos with the car, o pictures of the extra parts can be provided upon request to serious buyers.
I've spent a lot of time and effort in the last several months getting the car where it is now because I didn't want to be that guy that completely abandoned his project and handed off a basket case to the next guy. Car is very clean top to bottom. This car has a lot done to it and would make a great starting point for a build. Good luck and Happy Bidding!!
