This 1958 Studebaker Transtar Pickup was discovered in the small town of Smithsburg MD along side an original owner, ll original patina 1963 Chevy Impala SS. Falling under hard times after the passing of her husband (The Studebaker enthusiast), he previous owner had no choice but to sell off her Imapala and late husbands Studebaker Pickup. Being at the right time and place, nd after lots of time interviewing for the approval of the purchase, was able toacquireboth vehicles. The only stipulation, estore the Studebaker and give her one last look and ride before I sell it. Well after a 2 year restoration, he emotional reunion finally took place and she was able to see, ouch, nd ride in her late husbands pride and joy. After lots of sad and happy tears, nd lots of praise on the restoration, was given the thumbs up on the sale. This is a uniqueopportunityto own a rarepieceof automotive history that has a great story behind it.
Here is a little background history on the rare Studebaker pickups.
Stand out in any crowd with this rare 1958 Studebaker Transtar Pickup! Transtar was Studebaker’s top-of-the-line pickup with bold styling and industry-leading cargo space. The 1957 and 1958 Transtars received an aggressive new fiberglass grille . Studebaker suspended production of all its truck models when it closed its Indiana factory in December 1963 which made these very hard to find. Built for the farmer and work purposes, ost of these trucks were worked hard and had a low survival rate. This makes this one is such good condition, very rare find.
This Truck starts right up every time and everything operates and functions. Turn signals, peedometer, ights, eater fan, ipers all work great. It has had a complete frame up restoration. Please let me know if there is something I missed or need to add more information. This is a great truck and have enjoyed the attention driving and showing it. Seeing how I am more of a muscle car guy, am going to part ways for another project car. Some trades or partial trades would be considered. No motorcycles. I have put a reasonable reserve on this truck compared to what Hagerty and Nada has valued it at. These are very hard to value due to the rareness, nd they usually do not change hands often. There are only a couplecomparable trucksout there for sale and I have set a reserve way under what those are being offered at. Please do not hesitate to send me any questions, ood Luck!
I also have about 100 more pictures upon request for serious buyers only. The pictures are of the complete restoration through the process as well as more pictures of the interior, ngine compartment, askets, rim, heels, utside lights on, nder vehicle etc.
