Parting with a beautifully restored 1963StudebakerAvanti. One of only4647 Avantis were ever built by the Studebaker Corporation from June 1962 - December 1963. This 1963 Avanti is only one of3258 units that were manufactured in 1963. Sold brand new in California, t spent most of its life there and shows only three owners. It is powered by a matching number 289 V-8 (240 HP) and a three speed Power-shift automatic transmission. Only 10k miles on thisfreshly restored power train. This car runs and drives excellent, ith zero lane travel, o shakes/shudder and is a blast on open road. The car was originallyAvanti Red and was recently changed to a stunning Merlot metallic (04 ford Thunderbird color). This high quality paint job (over $9k) is a few years old but looks like it was done yesterday . The interior is black and is in great shape.The 1963 Studebaker Model X or Avanti, s it eventually called, as far ahead if its time. Its unique, uturistic design was drawn from the talents of renowned industrial designer Raymond Lowery. It was the first mass produced American car to have front disc brakes. The body was made of fiberglass, or lightweight handling and performance. Safety features included an overhead, inyl-covered roll-bar, door reinforcements, nd door locks designed with a stainless steel pin and lock system to achieve a positive lock. The suspension had front and rear sway bars. The Avanti set 20 speed records, ncluding the 4-speed transmission record of 172 mph and the automatic transmission speed record of 168 mph. Not only did this car preform well, ts was also built for comfort. It is loaded with options that make this classic such a pleasure to drive- power steering, ower windows, isc brakes, actory Air Conditioning, wo speed electric wipers and much more. Its had a few updates like a 10 disc CD changer and complete sound system, rand new tires, ew shocks, ew fuel pump, ew coils and the fans and radiators have been upgraded to keep the motor cool.The torque boxes (or "hog troughs") in this Avanti have already been updated. All dash gauges, ights and blinkers are in working order, s well as the factory horn. This car is a true American classic that is getting harder and harder to find, specially in this shape.
