Studebaker GT Hawk 1962 Description
This auction is for a unique 1962 Studebaker GT Hawk in project condition. The engine has been rebuilt at one point and runs strong. It is a Studebaker 289 with WCFB 4 barrel carb, Delco window distributor, HD cooling fan and duel exhaust. It is mated to a Borg Warner T 10 4 speed transmission, and even has a flanged axle Dana 44 TT with 3.73 gears. This is a unique 4 speed car, Black with Red interior. It has been in storage since 1982. As projects go, this has many items in very good condition, since it just sat half of its life. The dash is mostly restored with a bit of NOS and like new bezels and gauges, it also has a new cloc, not pictured. It has a 1963 Hawk wire harness, and it needs some connectors redone to finish installation. It comes with a 63 style alternator and bracket not pictured. The seats are not bad, door panels are nice. The interior has been sandblasted, roof too, so the headliner is needed new. Its bows are in proper order. Most of the interior stainless and chrome is in above average condition.
The body is mostly solid, there is rust (some holes) on passenger side floor, and about the same in the trunk, the decklid will need major work and the right 1/4 panel is 'rough'.
The exterior chrome and stainless mouldings are also above average with minor dings and minor pitting on the chrome.. as this car has been stored inside since 1982 from old papers/owner told me. The tailight housings are mint. Rear bumpe, rear panel, rear mouldings are all here, just not pictured.
I have gotten this to run, but it should probably get taken out, detailed and tuned up. I notice the rad hose is not correct, and engine mounts too. the freeze plugs on one side are the wrong type and one seeps.
This does drive around the parking lot or around the block, but I would not put many miles on it like it sits now. It will need some work. It has a new water pump, freeze plugs, oil to gauge line, and some items to install.... The master cylinder is new, as are the front shoes, hoses and all 4 wheel cylinders. I did not note at the time that the booster was missing, so it will need either a manual brake pedal or a new booster and hoses.
I probably missed a few things, so if you have a question please ask, lots of things not pictured are here. Tires were brand new, in '1982. Those are G 78's on there! Oh it has radio, new front speaker, it had a rear speaker, needs new, has washer kit, rear antenna, and added 4 way Flashers,.......
This would make a great driver, or a cool rat rod type. As with all the Studebaker Parts and cars I sell on Ebay, reserve is low, See my feedback.. Thanks for looking.
