Studebaker Commander 1955 Description

*** You need to check with your state's DMV and make sure you can obtain a title for this vehicle PRIOR to placing a bid. Alabama law does not require titles for vehicles 35+ years old therefore it does not have a title and will only come with a bill of sale. ***
*** There is a slideshow with more detailed pics at the bottom of the auction. ***
1955 Studebaker Commander Deluxe Conestoga 2dr Ultra Vista Wagon.Originally the car appears to be two tone yellow with dark green around the windows and rose burgundy or pink colored interior. The motor and transmission are missing but originally it came with a 224ci V8 2bbl with 140hp. Other than the motor and transmission, ll of the trim and chrome appears to be there. There were only around 4280 of these cars built in 1955 making it semi-rare. I've only been able to find pics of one car in this same color combination on the net.
This car will need new floor pans in front of the rear seat to the firewall. It also will need new rockers, pare tire pan in the rear, nd patches put in around the bottom of tailgate opening. The fenders and inner fenders are questionable. They look pretty thin and are obviously rusted through at the bottom. The doors and the tailgate are coming apart at the bottom so they will need to be repaired or replaced. The cowl and the rest of the roof and body look ok.
All of the glass will need to be replaced but you can use the old ones for the patterns with the exception of the back glass.
All of the bumpers and chrome looks good and just need to be rechromed.
The frame looks solid from what I could see from the top but I have not crawled under it to do a full inspection.
I have included some pics of other 1955 Studebaker Conestoga Wagons to show what this car could be when restored. Check them out.
