1951 WILLYS-OVERLAND

KOREAN WAR JEEP

¼ TON M38

Clean NJ Title

Government or General Purpose vehicles were used during war time for a multiple of tasks. From laying cable to transporting troops through rough terrain to even running on railroad tracks when outfitted with the right wheels. These vehicles did everything and an average of 145 of these vehicles were assigned to every army infantry regiment. And believe it or not, they cost less than $1000 each. What a lot of people do not realize that the name, General Purpose, was starting to be cumbersome to say so they shortened the name to G.P.’s. As time went on saying those two letters fast, in a slurring kind of way evolved into Jeep.

This 1951 Willys-Overland was issued in the Korean War and was restored to almost exact specification. Story was told, that the most unusual aspect of this vehicle is one of our American troops found it so difficult to stay put as this vehicle was conquering terrain that his riffle went off and blew a hole in the floor board. See pictures to verify. That’s why when this vehicle was restored, that was left to symbolize the human reality of our brave troops. Imagine the fun our soldiers had with that story. Please read on to find out all about this wonder piece of American history.

Exterior:

As you can see from the pictures, the vehicle presents in excellent condition. Only 500 miles has been put on this vehicle since complete restoration. It is the flat fender model and has been restored to specification. It has the original steel tub body and is ready for show or go. All the lights and marker lenses work properly and the glass is in excellent condition. Please take note of the detail of the restoration. The body is rust free and solid. Any questions on the exterior please let us know.

Interior:

The interior is as basic as it gets. What could be restored was restored. These vehicles didn’t have much creature comforts and only supplied what was necessary. All gauges work properly. The seats have been restored. Please look at the photos and notice the detail of the restoration. Any questions please let us know.

Drive-Train:

The drivetrain runs excellent. The engine has been overhauled to .30 over. The 4x4 and both rears have been rebuilt too. The truck runs great and as mentioned earlier, has only 500 miles on complete rebuild. Mostly consumed by shows and parades. The factory 24 volt system has been converted to 12 volt. Let us know of any questions you may have.

In summation, not only are these vehicles fun to drive, they symbolize a time in our country where boys were men and have endure much blood, sweat and tears for the freedom of our country. This vehicle encompasses everything they had to go through. Please realize that when viewing this vehicle and take a moment to silently say thank you to all the troops, past and present, that fight for our country. Thank you
