Willys CJ-2a 1947 Description

For sale is my wonderful 1947 Willys Overland "Jeep" CJ-2A

It's fun to drive, fun to take on trails, everything works (and works properly), and it has been lovingly cared for. I purchased it back in 2006 as a complete and nice driver from a fellow who had owned it about 20 years. He bought it used in San Diego and later moved it to Port Angeles, Washington. After I purchased it I decided to embark on a full ground up/frame up chassis and drivetrain restoration, which I completed Spring 2007. (It currently has about 3600 miles on the restoration). For the most part it is an original vehicle, with a few modifications to make it more practical and more enjoyable to drive. Highlights as follows:

  • Engine: Professionally rebuilt original L134 flathead 4cyl engine (cleaned, inspected, block bored and resurfaced, new pistons, polished crank, full new valve train with Clifford camshaft, hardened valve seats, resurfaced head, new oil pump, water pump, etc) w/ new electronic distributor, re-cored radiator, overhauled and tuned Carter WO carb, full custom exhaust system and wideband O2 sensor for tuning. Not shown but I have a stock air cleaner housing and parts to convert it to a modern dry air filter setup as well as a spare WO carb and Solex carb. I also have a Kaiser Supersonic head that is in good condition, but not installed.
  • 12volt conversion with all new wiring harness, 140A alternator, voltage converter for gauges, rebuilt starter for 12VDC, Hella H4 conversion glass headlights.
  • T98 "Granny Low" 4 speed, rebuilt and adapted with factory CJ-5 components
  • Warn Overdrive, professionally overhauled (For a total of 16 gears forward and 4 reverse)
  • 1971 CJ-5 D44 rear axle, 30 spline, new Dana/spicer 5.38 gears, Detroit E-locker (selectable electronic locking differential).
  • Front disc brakes/rear 11" drum (1977 CJ-5 spec)
  • Dual circuit brake master cylinder and all new lines throughout.
  • 31x9.50 Interco TSL radial tires on 15x7 steel rims (4 tires, 5 wheels)
  • York air compressor system (air tank and plumbing not currently installed, but included).
  • Winch is not included, but the mounting plate/system is (winch is negotiable after the sale, but I plan to move it over to another Jeep).
  • All receipts, over 1000 photos of restoration.

When I rebuilt this Jeep, I did it with the intention of keeping it forever. Every single component was carefully cleaned, inspected, repaired or replaced as needed. The modifications from stock werecarefullychosen to be somewhat period correct and to enhance and improve the Jeep while maintaining it's original character. The non-stock parts that I did use are almost entirely from newer model jeeps and have readilyavailable repair parts should the need arise in the future. There are lots of extras not mentioned above, contact me for full details or to arrange a viewing/test drive. I am willing to assist with pickup and delivery, potentially I could trailer tow it to you, please contact me for details.

I have a detailed build thread listed on a jeep forum, please contact me for the link. Also note I have this vehicle listed for sale locally and reserve the right to terminate theauctionearly.
