AMC AMX 1968 Description
Zero rust whatsoever. 100% complete. All numbers matching. All original from hub caps to air cleaner to exhaust manifolds to AM/FM radio. The original owner was 56 when he bought the car new. The miles are actual, ot turned over and claimed to be whats showing like most guys do...what a bunch of B.S. if you ask me. The AMX has never been cleaned since 1973, ther than me hosing it off before putting it my garage the day I brought it home. No cracks in the dash. Interior needs cleaned too. Seats, oor panels, arpet, ash, teering wheel, ll perfect...just dusty. The car was covered in so much dust, ou couldn't tell what color the car was underneath.Always garaged, nd never moved since 1973. 69,000 real actual miles. Real time capsule. Not a barn find, ut a garage find here in Southern California. Orig black plates. Engine runs unbelievable. Disc brakes still need to be bled, nd gas tank needs to be cleaned.I let the engine idle for 20 minutes, fter bypassing the gas tank, nd shooting Marvel mystery oil down each cylinder. Little smoke for the first minute, nd then cleared right up. Perfect idle, ith great throttle response...no hesitation. Runs very cool too...just unbelievable. No lifter noise, o smoke after the first minute. If the brakes were bled, nd gas tank cleaned, ou could lay posi marks all the way down the street.
The picture of the license plates show the dealer plate the original owner used too. The registration for the dealer plate is in the picture of the glove box. It was issued in 1971. The orig. rear license plate has it's only registration stickers, ust 1968 and 1969. The dealer plate was used for the next few years. The AMX was driven to his new house, nd shortly after the house being completed, he car and his 1969 Lincoln Mark III never left the garage. When I purchased both cars, ll the neighbors came out of their houses to tell me they have never seen the cars out of his garage. It was like a block party as the cars were being loaded onto flatbeds.
The plastic piece between the rear tail lights are missing. I looked for it and just can't locate it. I might have left it at the original owners house. So, lease don't count on receiving that piece.
Like I said before, ERO rust. The paint is old lacquer, nd will need to be buffed out. It has touch up in places and a couple door dings. To the left of the left tail pipe in the lower valence, e backed into something, ike a paint can, nd wrinkled it slightly.
The options I'm aware of: 390, o package (Performance Package) which includes power disc brakes, win grip posi, tiffer handling suspension, eavy duty cooling system (fan shroud, blade flex fan) redline e70-14 tires, ach? Also has power steering, ilt wheel, m/fm, are factory head rests, eat belts with shoulder harnesses, /C, emote mirror.
The car has all it's factory installed parts it left the factory with. The red plastic piece that goes between the tail lights will be the first and only piece that didn't come on this car from the factory. Windows roll up well, nd locks work.
Title is in my name. Thanks, im
