Buick Skylark 1954 Description
You are bidding on a SUPER RARE, of 836 built, ARN FIND, STATE SALE 1954 Buick Skylark Convertible Model 100. This beautiful Skylark is in mostly original condition! Truly one of the prettiest and most unusual cars we’ve seen in a long time – a rare piece that would stand out in any collection. She is a head-turner from the Artic white exterior, orgeous 2-tone white and red interior, lack convertible top and tons of shiny chrome. With only 71,000 miles, he is in very nice condition with most of her parts! The body is very straight with no major visible issues. I believe the 322 cubic inch Fireball V8 and Twin Turbine Dynaflow 2-speed automatic transmission are the original numbers-matching units for this car. She starts and runs. The convertible top (which is in excellent condition) operates smoothly without any help. She was a driver for years and then parked years ago. The owner is deceased and we don’t have much info other than what is listed. However, his is one car that could be restored to show condition without much trouble! This is a rare classic car with a reserve to protect some of its value. The estate wants the car to sell in this first auction – so, f you are interested, id on the auction. It cannot be sold outside of the auction. If the reserve is not met we will work with the high bidder to complete the sale.

The Body is very solid, ice, hiny, nd straight with a good repaint job, ot show-quality but nice. The body looks to be all-original with no major damage or body work performed. There are no dents, ings, r damage to the body except for minor scratches and some chips from the long storage. Again, his car has been sitting for years and needs a full detailing, olishing and mechanical systems check.
The condition of the chrome and brite work is very nice to excellent condition. Most just needs polishing and buffing. The side mirrors will need to be rechromed. Bumpers are nice and straight, eed polishing. Rear passenger side bumper does have a major scratch. The glass is in great condition with no cracks or delamination. The windows do operate but on a custom switch which allows “all windows” to go up or down at the same time. The weatherstripping appears to be original and in good to fair condition.
The black convertible top is in very nice condition. The top does operate quickly and without help. The convertible top does come with a matching red boot cover.
All of the windows, oors, runks, nd hood operate as they should.
The Two-tone Interior is in beautiful shape (no rips or tears anywhere). I’m not sure if it’s original or restored original material but it’s in very nice condition. It does need some detailing but nothing major. It does not smell of rodents or mildew to speak of. Most things work on the dash that I can test. The original radio does not appear to be working. The steering wheel is in great condition!
The Drivetrain appears to be original and we have also been told that by the Estate. The 322ci Fireball V8 runs great, dles and drives although there is a reservoir that is loose and you can hear it rattling in the video. The engine does sound like a rocker arm is a bit loose too. The thermostat is sticky and does not open all of the time. I have been warming the engine up several times to free the stat and it has been working the last 2 days but just wanted to note that! The Twin Turbine Dynaflow 2-speed automatic transmission operates but the gasket is leaking and does require you to add fluid after a day or two. There are no brakes! However, he brake shoes are dragging which allows the car to stop enough to load on a trailer or truck without much difficulty. Power steering is good. I did drive this around my yard and I don’t think there are any more issues.
The Undercarriage is in nice condition too. Floor pans and frame are original and in good condition. Lots of undercoating and some oil spray. There are some very minor areas of rust that will need to be addressed such as the rear trunk-to-bumper filler brace. And I believe someone either replaced or covered the whole inner rockers on both sides. I’m not sure what was done and why but just wanted to mention it. Fuel line was spliced with a rubber hose in one 10-inch section.
Options include…Arctic White paint (repaint), -tone White and Matador Red interior, ower drum brakes, ower steering, ower windows, 0-spoke Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels, ower convertible top, ower seats, ower antenna and Selectronic radio.
There are just a few items that are not functioning correctly. I have listed all that I know from going over the car. However, he most important so I am mentioning it again is that there are no brakes to speak of although the brake shoes are dragging which allows you to stop once you’re off the accelerator.
Other info: The car is in pretty much original condition with the following items replaced… 12-volt battery, nd I believe the tires (which are SEIBERLINE white wall 8.45x15 bias-ply and are in good condition, ot dry rotted).
Car comes with one set of factory keys and clear Ohio title
