Buick Super 1949 Description

1949 Buick Super (50) Convertible.
SELLING AT NO RESERVE. HIGHEST BIDDER OWNS IT!
Heavily restored, between myself and previous owner over $100,000 invested.
This car runs and looks great and turns heads everywhere. People literally jump out at stop lights to ask about the car. I drove it for 4 months with no valid tag and was stopped by cops only to ask about the car, never to write a ticket. This car is class all the way.
The car had a frame off restoration about 15 years ago and the paint is in very good condition, but with a few chips here and there. Since then, however, a huge amount work more was done by myself and the previous owner.
All chrome is new or recently rechromed with no to extremely minimal defects or pitting. You could sell the bumpers on this thing for five figures.
Brand new convertible top and interior in the past few months. New carpet in cabin and trunk with new door panels and trunk boards. Seats recently redyed. New Chrome Ididit tilt steering colum with new Lecarra steering wheel. Most gauges work except gas gauge and clock, but included are fully functional great condition replacement gauges. Factory radio in dash missing most components but car comes with an excellent Buick Sonomatic radio to swap out, with all chrome knobs. There is an aftermarket stereo under the dash with speakers front and back (fronts in custom made kick panel enclosures), with Bluetooth.
6 volt electric system converted to 12 volt, with step down transformer for instruments. No old hydraulic, pneumatic or vacuum systems here. Top, windows and wipers all converted to electric motors and work well.
Engine is the factory Buick 248 CID straight 8 that came with the car, which was rebuilt just a few years ago with careful cam work, and upgrading valves, springs and pistons (Egge). Since then other improvements were made such as the very expensive handcrafted stainless steel headers, chrome valve covers, and the installation of a 700R4 transmission with overdrive, and electronic ignition. The car runs a dual carb intake manifold with two just rebuilt Stromberg carbs (pics show carbs before just-done rebuild). New radiator core, gas tank, as well as plugs, wires, coil, speedometer cable, shift cable, shift indicator and 850cca battery.
The suspension and brakes have been substantially updated to provide better ride and road ability. 10 bolt rear end with custom fabricated drivetrain as well as Scarebird disc brake conversion at all 4 wheels. And all of it rides on Brand New 4 5/8" whitewall Coker Bias Ply tires.
There's too much to list with this car. These cars from the 40's, especially Buicks with there sleek lines and awesome chrome, are getting harder to find everyday. When was the last time you saw a car that looked like this, nevernind had a chance to own one?
There's over $100,000 invested in this car, and I hate to let it go. But with 5 kids now and two garage spaces something has to give. Florida title, mileage exempt.
Offered here with a ridiculously low start price (there is almost ($12,000 in improvements in the car in just the past 5 months). The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early at any time due to prior sale.
Local pick up only. Buyer must pick up or arrange shipping. It's a car - obviously no return or refund. If you have any concerns feel free to come drive or look at it or send an inspector. Contact me with any questions, I'm happy to answer. Thanks much.
