Cadillac DeVille 1964 Description
1964 Cadillac DeVille Convertible Basket Case
"Basket Case" Frame off Restoration ProjectIn Progress.....for you to take over!
Lots of Documents and Records including letter from appearance on VH1 Country Countdown Episode 50 in 1994!
Here's the story.....I bought this car in 2011. It was a pea green Caddy andthe car ran and drove fine. The convertible top worked. There wassome minor rust on the rocker panels. I have includedsomepics of the car from backin 2011 to show what it looked like "before" we started our project.
I immediately put it in a body shop here in Colorado to be completely restored.Thecar was disassembled 100% to the frame. The frame has been repainted, the engine rebuilt and the body was restored on a rotisserie and repainted inside and out. They sent the transmission out to a transmission shop to be gone over too. We selected a "Newport Blue" color to replace the pea green. The engine compartment and the frame is painted high-gloss black.
In the process ofreassembling the car, the shop lost interest, slowed way down and eventually went out of business.I estimate that had done between $75,000 to $100,000 of body and mechanical work on the car at that point.
Fast forward to 2015.....My Cadillac was never finished. It was leftby them exactly like you see it inthe pics. They abandonedthe car with all the unassembled parts in the passenger compartment like you see. It's a mess.
Over that time period, between 2011 and 2015, I paid for a lot of parts and workincludingconverting it from drum to disc brakes and getting new Coker "real" wire wheels and tires (not hubcap wire wheels), a new manifold, new body panels, and tons of nickel and dime miscellaneous parts that will be needed to complete the rebuild.Everything they left comes with the car.
There areseveral of old records and documents included too. Most are from the 80's and are for normal repairs, vehicle maintenanceand oil changes, etc. Some of the highlights are a 1994 letter from a producer at VH-1 thanking the owner for lettingVH-1 use the car forEpisode 50 of VH-1 Country Countdown (see pic), anHistoric Vehicle parade mileage log from 1996-2000 for appearances in parades and car shows in Rollaand Salem, MO (see pic) and also what appears to be the original 1964 owners manual. These are some nice records, for sure.
I would be happy to take more pics as requested and answer any questions that I can. Ido not have any ability to get under the vehicle to take undercarriage photos without a lift. So that's not possible.
The vehicle is located at a place of business just outside of theDenver, CO area. Iencourage and will accommodate your requests for a pre-bid inspection during regular business hours! Please come take a look.
**Due to the way theCadillac was left as you can see it in its' present state of disrepair, you should anticipatesomechallenges reassembling it including potential missing, broken inoperable and unknown parts. The previousbody shop is out of business andany buyer should not expect or relay onany help, advice, recollection or assistance from them whatsoever.I'll gladly providetheir contact info to the buyer, but do not expectthem to help you.
The car will come with a clean, free and clear Coloradotitle (on the way from the Colorado DMV to me as we speak) and it is being sold 100% AS IS!What you see is what you get.
