Chevrolet C/K Pickup 2500 1985 Description
This is a Military issue 1985 Chevrolet M1008 1 1/4 ton pickup. Desert storm area GI vehicle.
Features of these Heavy Duty Military builds:
* 6.2 (378 cu in) naturally aspirated diesel engine.(same as the early Hummers)
* 24 volt system---two batteries---dualgenerators (all the lights, urn signals, eater blower motor,
horn, ipers etc."do work" and on 12 volts.) The 24 volt system is to insure strong cranking.
* The front diff is a Dana 60 with manual locking hubs and the rear is the big 14 bolt Corporate
limited slip.
* HD diesel prepped TH400 tranny.
* Certified rust proofed body - GI requirement. (see tag on inside drivers door)
* HD air cleaner. Paper with foam overlay air filters.
I have driven this quite a bit since buying itand it starts easy and runs great.I believe that all the lights, orn, ipers, eater, peedometer and odometer still work.It has strong power brakes and smooth power steering. I shifts firm like it is supposed to.It does not shimmy or wonder on the road. Government rigs are generally well maintainedand with only 031,348 miles showing on the odometer there probably isn't much wear on the suspension parts etc. The motor runs strong with no abnormal sounds or smoking. I can park it on my drive way with no fear of oil or anti freeze leakage. I'm not saying that you can white glove the underside but for instance I took it for a drive this afternoon, rought it home and parked it. Six hours later there wasn't a drop of anything on my concrete driveway whereI parked it. All the glass is good, he doors lock and the tires are a good set of 285/75/16s with about half wear left. I had the seat rebuilt andrecovered with a nice earth toned quality fabric. The original wasold hot sticky vinyl and was cracked pretty bad. This truck is ready to use. It makes a good 2nd truck and really gets attention at the little localcar shows.It very practical, ough, ets good mpg and can't be disabled by electro magnetic fields.( as per bug out truck) Best thing is there is no conveniencegadgetry, ir bag service lights, SC, PM, 2s, AS, AF, nock sensors, bs,etc. etc. etc.to be replaced and repaired constantly draining your wallet.
