Chevrolet El Camino 1967 Description

This car is a very solid. reliable driver. I've owned it for more than 15 years and over time have performed all necessary repairs and maintenance including: replaced the carburetor (Holley 625CFM). power steering pump. steering box. brake master cylinder and power booster. brake lines. pads. shoes. nbsp; renewed all suspension bushings. front and rear shocks. resleeved the original 4 piston front calipers. I replaced the original hood and grille with SS components when the car was painted - 1967 El Caminos were not originally fitted with SS badging. although Chevelles were. The good: body and chassis are straight and rust free. paint is about 5 years old and still looks fresh. I've added a factory correct optional tilt steering column in place of the standard non-tilt unit. factory original equipment still on the car includes: heavy duty Harrison radiator. 12 bolt posi Dana rear. Turbo 400 trans. large front sway bar. 4 piston caliper front disc brakes. 396/325HP big block engine. the engine runs perfectly. starts quickly hot or cold. idles smoothly. doesn't burn oil. and will light up the tires without even trying. The bad: needs an interior. wipers aren't working. headliner is missing (metal ribs are still there). and all interior components show wear consistent with unrestored 48 year old equipment. originally a factory A/C car but compressor. brackets. and hoses are all missing. original factory fitted "knee knocker" tach is missing. originally factory equipped with the optional gauge package but only the fuel gauge is working. mileage is most likely greater than odometer reading. The trim plate code indicates this car was assembled in Fremont. CA. originally painted Mountain Green Metallic with black interior. Engine stamping and casting codes indicate the engine is the original 396/325HP unit produced at GM's Tonawanda plant on April 14. 1966. For prospective bidders who have a question as to the originality of the engine in this car. I have attached a photo of the casting number found on the back of the block behind the distributor. That number is 3902406. For the interpretation of this number. nbsp;please refer to the following webpage:www. nastyz28. com/bbcmenu. phpIt's time for a new owner to step forward. and take over where I've left off - this car is definitely a worthwhile investment that can be driven with confidence just the way it is. or have a frame-off restoration back to showroom condition. or both!!
