Chevrolet Blazer 1987 Description
355 small block V8. Mild cam. Edelbrock torquer intake. New aluminum wide 2 core radiator with dual electric pusher fans. New high flow mechanical water pump. New high torque GM starter. 700r4 auto trans. 10 bolt rear end with 3.42 gears and Detroit True Trac limited slip. New rear tires. New fuse panel with wiring harness for the entire vehicle. All new gauges. Power windows. Shaved door handles with keyless entry. Runs great and is pump gas friendly. Gets @ 13 mpg on the highway. Drives very nice. Paint is in good condition. There are some signs of age in it but still looks good. Looking to move the vehicle but will not give it away. Here are a few facts about it.Motor is a 350 4 bolt main block (casting #3970010) out of a 1972-73 truck, an, r bus. It has a straight bolt pattern for the starter rather than a staggered and that implies that the motor was mated to a Powerglide transmission.
Cylinder heads are a standard GM head from 1970-80. Casting number is #338882. They are for a 350-400 small block Chevy. 1.94 intake valve size and 1.50 exhaust valve size. 76cc combustion chamber. The heads were redone prior to installation with a 3 angle valve job performed.
The transmission is a 700r4 automatic. Not sure what it came out of but it shifts great and is all mechanical. No vacuum for the kickdown.
The rear end is the original out of the vehicle. Standard 10 bolt with 3.42 gears. Perfect gearing for the motor and trans. It's quick but gets great gas mileage because of the overdrive.
I know the truck isn't a show truck, ut it's solid and runs great. It could be a show truck with a little money and some time. All of the main components are there mechanically. In 2 years, his truck will be considered a classic as it will turn 30 years old. Not many of these out there and this one gets lots of compliments as it is right now.
There are a couple of small things that are in need of repair on it so you know. The wipers do not work. Not sure why. They stopped working prior to me rewiring the vehicle. Also, he new speedo I installed stopped working. Checked the wiring and installed a new sending unit. Still no. Started using my GPS instead.
