Chevrolet Camaro 1968 Description
You've probably already divined that this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS convertible is the real thing. And it's not only a real SS, but it carries its matching-numbers powertrain and was fully restored to original specifications, including that gorgeous Corvette Bronze paint. Pedigreed, gorgeous, and a blast to drive? Yes, please! The original buyer of this Camaro convertible built himself a pretty special car. An SS convertible is never a bad decision, but adding Corvette Bronze to the order form, plus a front-end SS stripe, and a ducktail spoiler resulted in one of the most handsome F-bodies we've featured in a long time. Following a full restoration, it simply gleams in the showroom and you're going to need sunglasses to look at it outside. There are no deviations from the original build, so the original hood remains in place, complete with those cool chrome velocity stack inserts that are far more interesting than the usual cowl-induction piece. Fit and finish are quite good and while it has been driven and enjoyed a bit since the work was done, its clean Georgia living means that the steel underneath the paint is equally nice. Rechromed bumpers, a blacked-out SS grille, and the other details that make it look correct have all been finished to factory-new condition (or better), so it doesn't need anything to be enjoyed.Black buckets anchor a fully restored interior that's every bit as nice as the bodywork. New pleated seat covers, fresh black carpets, and bright wood appliques on the dash and center console make it feel showroom new. Thanks to quality workmanship and good materials, it shows almost no use or wear since it was restored aside from some very light cracking and pitting on the steering wheel, which is the original piece and it would be a shame to restore or replace that originality. Factory gauges cover speed and fuel level, with an unusual accessory console clock ahead of the horseshoe shifter. Other value-adding upgrades include factory A/C, power steering and brakes, and an AM/FM stereo radio that fits like the stock head unit and uses original-looking knobs. The black top fits well and folds easily, and the trunk is outfitted with a correct mat and a full-sized spare with jack.As you've guessed by now, the 350 cubic inch V8 under the hood is the original, numbers-matching L48, rebuilt less than 1000 miles ago. A few chrome dress-up pieces are the only notable deviations from stock, and the fresh Chevy Orange paint simply gleams from within the engine bay. There's a Holley 4-barrel carburetor living under the air cleaner, but nobody will ever notice, and the original manifolds are still in place. Note that the A/C system has been upgraded to R134a refrigerant so it'll be easy to maintain in the future and the engine runs just beautifully. A TH350 3-speed automatic and original 12-bolt rear end are joined by a fresh reproduction exhaust system and a new gas tank, so it sounds like a Camaro should and fuel issues are a thing of the past. It's not totally detailed underneath, but you can see that a lifetime living in Georgia has left it in excellent condition. Correct Rally wheels are part of the package and now carry 245/60/15 BFGoodrich radials that are a little fatter than stock but look fantastic.A great-looking F-body convertible with great options and a strong pedigree is no easy find these days. Given the quality, this one looks like a winner. Call today!
