Chevrolet El Camino 1985 Description
I BOUGHT THIS FOR MY UPCOMING RETIREMENT AND PLANNED TO RESTORE IT TO NEW CONDITION TO HAVE A NEW/OLD VEHICLE TO ENJOY DRIVING WITHOUT WORRY OF BREAK DOWN. AS WITH SO MANY BEFORE ME IT DID NOT WORK OUT AS PLANNED. I LOST MY JOB, MY MECHANIC(MY BROTHER) AND MY HEALTH, NO WAA, WAA JUST AN EXPLANATION FOR SELLING.THE PAINT IS ORIGINAL, AS IS THE INTERIOR, WIRING ETC, ETC. I LOOKED FOR A FEW MONTHS TO FIND AN UNMOLESTED ONE AND DISCOVERED THE MECHANICALS WERE THE EASIEST TO FIX AND GOOD BODY'S, INTERIOR AND ESPECIALLY UNMOLESTED WIRING WERE EXTREMELY TOUGH TO FIND EXCEPT OF COURSE TIME CAPSULE ONES WITH SUPER LOW MILEAGE AND THE PRICE TO MATCH. I WAS TOLD IT WAS MADE IN MEXICO AND SHIPPED HERE TO CALIFORNIA WHERE IT STAYED. IT HAS BEEN GARAGED MOST OF ITS LIFE, PRETTY OBVIOUS WITH NICE PAINT, SEATS, CARPETING, HEADLINER AND THE DASH HAS NO CRACKS OR SUN BLEACHING. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT PERFECT BUT A PERFECT DRIVER CONDITION BODY. I WAS PLANNING ON REBUILDING ALL OF THE MECHANICALS HOWEVER THAT DID NOT WORK OUT BUT I STILL HAVE PUT QUITE A BIT INTO IT. NEW COPPER/BRASS RADIATOR, THERMOSTAT, UPPER AND LOWER HOSES, HEATER HOSES, BRAND NEW NOT REBUILT HIGH FLOW HD WATER PUMP,REBUILT UPPER AND LOWER FRONT CONTROL ARMS WITH NEW BALL JOINTS AND POLY BUSHING,MOOG 5606 FRONT SPRINGS, AC DELCO 45H3013 REAR SPRINGS WITH ADDED F41 REAR SWAY BAR. SPEEDO WAS JUMPING ALL OVER THE PLACE BUT A NEW SPEEDO CABLE FIXED IT AND THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTUALLY WORKS STILL ALONG WITH THE CLOCK. A/C DOES NOT WORK BUT ALL THERE, HEATER DOES.NEW TIRES AND RIMS 235-60-15 IN FRONT, 255-60-15 REAR. REBUILT(CORRECT YEAR FOR LONGEVITY,WAS TOLD NEWER ONES BETTER THAN OLDER ONES)700R4 TRANNY WITH SHIFT KIT(SHIFTS GREAT BUT NOT TOO HARSH)WITH SHORTENED REBUILT DRIVESHAFT. NEW VALVE COVERS, AIR CLEANER,PLUGS AND WIRES AND CAP AND ROTOR. NEW EXHAUST WITH FLOWMASTER(SINGLE EXHAUST). NEW BATTERY STILL UNDER WARRANTY. IT RUNS GOOD AND STRONG WITH THE ORIGINAL 4-BBL AND 305 V8, WAS PLANNING A CRATE 350 AND MOVING TO ARIZONA WITH NO SMOG CHECK BUT.......NO REAL LEAKS ON THE ENGINE(NEW CHROME VALVE COVERS AND SANDWICH GASKETS INSTALLED), SOME OOZING AROUND THE ENGINE BUT IT IS AWESOME FOR 32 YEARS YOUNG! TRANNY AND REAR END NO LEAKS EITHER.NON POSI STOCK REAR END(PLANNED ON LARGER POSI UNIT) WORKS GOOD. ALL INSTRUMENTS, AND WINDOWS(POWER) WORK GOOD, DRIVERS POWER LOCK WORKS BUT PASSENGER SIDE DOESN'T. LEFT TURN SIGNAL DOES NOT FLASH BY ITSELF, CAN DO IT MANUALLY THOUGH. HEADLIGHTS REPLACED WITH NEW HALOGENS. AIR SHOCKS WORK AND NEW KYB'S IN FRONT. VERY NICE TO DRIVE, FIRM RIDE BUT NOT HARSH. NEW SONY CD PLAYER RADIO INSTALLED.ALL SMOG EQUIPMENT THERE WITH NEW O2 SENSOR AND EGR VALVE AND I HAVE THE ORIGINAL AIR CLEANER FOR IT.PROBABLY FORGOT SOMETHING(SUCKS GETTING OLD) BUT I THINK YOU WILL GET THE DRIFT. MAKES ME SICK TO GET RID OF IT BUT SUCH IS LIFE.
