Do you love the look of the classic cars but don't want to spend the rest of your life tinkering under the hood with temperamental carburetors, antiquated electrical systems and aftermarket parts produced in countries which care nothing about quality control? I was once a purist who refused to put anything under the hood of my classic that wasn't OEM and it was killing my pocket book. One day I had an opportunity to purchase a 1964 El Camino that had a fuel injected 427 with a modern transmission, modern suspension, etc., for a price that I couldn't walk away from and I came away from that experience doing an about face on the "restomod" crowd, which are now clearly the majority of those who own, enjoy, and drive classic cars and trucks. I certainly retain my love of the unaltered classics which are a rolling history lesson and preserve our countries automotive heritage but if you really love to drive thenrestomod is the only way to go.
With all of that said the car for sale here is a serious driver. I purchased it from a guy in Milwaukee who told his son that if he wanted to specialize in his education it was time to "pony up" and sell his toy and I was the lucky buyer. The car needed some work in the interior and having owned three C3 Corvettes I knew how to get it done and the car is now for sale to the Ebay audience, near, far or over seas. Let me give you some of the details. The primary change is the drivetrain. A 1996 Corvette that wastotaled with 10k miles on it provided the engine and transmission as well as the computer and wiring harness. Since the transplant there has been approximately 10k miles put on the car. The engine is an LT1 and the transmission is a 4L60E (4 speed automatic w/overdrive). At the time that the transplant took place, very professionally done, the entire brake system was rebuilt including the power brake booster, master cylinder, pads and rotors, new Thrush mufflers and new exhaust from the engine back. They also rebuilt the complicated vacuum system which is what controls theraising and lowering of the head lights, etc. A lot of money has been spent and if you know anything about buying a classic car the number one rule is buy the car that has already been restored or shell out a lot of money that you'll never see again. If you don't know that ask anyone in the industry. I don't know the actual numbers but I can easily see upwards of 25k having been spent on this car and it is priced far below that number. I can also say with certainty that if this car is cared for and maintained it will never lose that value. Right now C3 Corvettes, America's flagship sports car, are the best deal in the classic car market. The moral of the story is own it and drive it and have fun with it for several years, sell it and get your money back. Try that with a new sports car...
I wasn't the owner when the car was being restored but when I took possession of it everything worked except for the air conditioning (the fan does work on all speeds). The AC compressor from the 96 Vette came over in the swap but no one installed a condenser and had made the custom lines. I expect that these parts can be obtained for under $300.00. All of the gauges work in this car including the clock. The keys match all of the locks. It has new BF Goodrich radial tires and I should mention the suspension has been upgraded to a composite mono leaf in the rear. The paint is a metallic pearl black/grey that I would score a 9 as a driver. I would score the interior with the same number. It has new seat covers, new seat foam, new carpetfront and back, new seat belts and new door panels. In addition, this car has ZERO rust and the original fiberglass panels have only one tiny crack on the passenger side where the neoprene nose attaches. None of the spider web cracking so common on C3's where the fiberglass has been sanded too thin, etc. This minor flaw is less than an inch long and hardly even noticeable. Last but not least the previous owner spent a lot of money on the stereo with woofers and kickers, blue tooth, etc. I am not in tune with that market but it will rattle the car and seriously piss off the neighbors.
The car is presently in mystorage facility and it will remain there while you work out the shipping. I will assist in any manner possible. If you have any questions or would like to see the car please call me at (817) 403-7723. I am also open to offers BEFORE the reserve has been met. Text me, call me, but don't email me. If you have less than 5 feedbacks please call me before bidding. Thanks for looking!
