Chevrolet Camaro 1969 Description

This 69 Z28 is as honest of a muscle car as you will find. It has had just 3 owners. The previous owner had since 1977. Only 1 repaint 25 years ago that still looks very good. The car has had only 350 miles put on it since 1977. I had heard about the car and the gentleman's collection for years. He is a GM retiree in the Cincinnati area that began stashing rare cars and parts in the early 70s and would never sell anything to anyone. He liked to keep his cars stock, ack when everyone else was throwing away original stuff to go aftermarket. This is a early car with no cowl hood or spoilers and he left it that way. He even keep the original smog system on it. Due to health issues, e began quietly selling and I was lucky to purchase a few. This car was sold new at Queen City Chevrolet in Cincinnati. The original owner and the second owner were neighbors. The 3rd owner paid $950 for it in 1977, he second owner was asking $1000.00. ( 3rd owner has an all original Ls6 he only paid $1400.00 for back in the day). This is a car that hasnt been tossed around. I have owned and still have first gen Z28s. They are one of the most, f not the most popular muscle car. Here's what frequently comes up in the 69 Z28s I see offered for sale:
1) Car offered isn't a real Z28. Sad to say but fake tags, emoved tags, witched tags are very common to these cars. 20,302 were built, nd most were abused so they had a lower survival rate than most. I would guess there are over 50,000 so called "real Zs" out there right now.
2) It has either not the original engine or has a restamp engine. Lets face it, hese cars came with a 5 year/ 50k warranty. They were revved high and ran hard.
3) It has had lots of rust and had LOTS of sheet metal replaced at some point, he scariest area that is common is the dash/cowl area. This requires removing the VIN and or cowl tag. Some people are ok with buying camaros that have had or need this procedure but I was never comfortable with it. Sadly, t is a common area that needs replacement though.
NONE OF THE 3 APPLIES TO THIS CAR!
I always knew of this car, nd knew of its authenticity but it had Jerry MacNeish come and certify it to make it complete. He came to my place in April this year and inspected it as I had found it. It was born cortez silver with black deluxe interior. As I mentioned, nly one repaint. Original sheet metal. The paint is straight and shows very well, t does have a couple dull places from waxes over the years. Still shines well. The floors and trunk are as nice as Ive ever seen on a first gen camaro. The undercarriage is very clean original floors. No undercoating or grime. Key buzzer still works. T3 headlamps. Beautiful, ostly original interior, nly carpet and drivers seat upholstery replaced at some point Original bumpers, hrome and emblems. All in great condition. It had old sports car 200 tires on it. I replaced them with the same tires a few months ago. Ive for the most part left the engine compartment alone. It has a nice "survivor" look to it. Not too dirty, ut to look as nice as it does after all these years I feel no need to touch it. I did replace the water pump with a new high flow pump, he original is included. I also installed a new chambered exhaust system on it. I had the front and rear springs replaced with correct ones from heartbeat city. Here is a list of some of the numbers for the car:
*Engine block. Original, orn with, Z block. Stamp pad verified by MacNeish. 386 casting. J268 casting date. V1102DZ Assembly date.
*Heads. Original, orn with. 186 cast. Both dated J188

*Distributor. Correct and verified authentic by JM 480 distributor but is dated 9D2, hich is late. Im not going to change because it is a real 1969 Z distributor and its been on the car along time.
*Wheels. Has the original spare and jack. Spare wheel dated AD K18 10 24. The other four wheels on the car are all matching Jan 69 dated YH wheels. These also have been on the car a long time so I felt no need to change. Rings and caps are all original.
*Smog system. All original to the car. Still on the car. Ive heard some parts like the div valve are not correctly reproduced, nd originals are hard to find. This and all parts to the smog system are original.
All these components were on the car when JM documented the car and have been for years. He also certified that the hidden vins match and the tags have never been removed. I really hate to sell this car but I have other Zs and Im trying to thin the herd. If it sells, t sells, f not then thats fine. I like to drive my cars and don't have the time to get them out like they deserve. I tried to list as much info as I could think of. I may add more. If there are any questions I will be happy to answer. I also would be happy to show the car to serious parties. I had JM inspect the car this year. Other than installing a new chambered exhaust system and new, orrect springs it is the way he seen it. Some cars that have been inspected were done years ago, r they were done prior to restoration. In these cases, n my opinion, he cars would need to be inspected again.
Im selling the car AS-IS, s the factory warranty has long ago expired. I require a $1000.00 deposit via paypal within 24 hours of the end of the auction. Balance due within 7 days of the end of the auction. I do not offer a lay away plan. If you buy it, e prepared to pay for it in full within 7 days. NO TRADES, xcept ONLY towards a nice series 1 or 2 jaguar convt. Again, lease ask any serious questions. One question I will not answer is "what is the reserve". This is an aucton without a buy it now, o it will run in its entirety, n true auction format. I can tell you that you will not find another for what my reserve is set at. Thank you for your interest.

I will be happy to answer any questions 317.667.6240. Also, I have the max pics ebay will let you put on an ad, hich is 24. The last pic is of MacNeish's report where he describes the condition of the paint, nterior, nd sheet metal. He also list the drivetrain numbers and that they are original to the car. I will be happy to send any additional pics I have to serious parties. I will also be more than happy to show the car. I spoke to a guy earlier who collects survivor cars. L88s and other rare stuff. He said if you've looked at enough cars, ou just know a good, egitimate car right off the bat. This is one of those cars. Thanks
