Dodge Other Pickups 1949 Description
1949 Dodge pickup recently purchased at a local estate auction. The story that was told is the truck was given as wedding gift by father in law of owner and he drove truck until 1966 when it developed some sort of running trouble and needed to be hauled home on a wrecker. The truck was parked behind the fellows home by the tow truck and jacked up with blocks placed on each corner to keep off the ground. I can not verify this to be true but can state that I purchased at auction and truck was tucked back into the bushes in a well groomed yard and was on blocks. I have operated a used car lot and salvage yard in the same town within a few miles and had no idea the truck was even there although I have driven by hundreds maybe thousands of times. There is an owners manual included with notes of each time the owner added gas or serviced the truck up until 1966. Mileage shows 73171 and that is near the last entries miles. Body is decent considering it sat outside not in a barn for the last 50 years or so. The front fenders have some rust as well as the floor boards and some in door posts. Rear bed is very good the wood floor has rotted away. The interior is real good for age. Has factory radio and column mounted fan. Has Ram hood ornament the grille stainless steel has a couple dents. Has great patina for someone looking to build a shop truck to advertise their business. Engine turns over but I did not attempt to start. All wheels turn and tires hold air for a while. 1st pics are of truck where it was parked. Truck is located in Gardiner Maine. Buyer is responsible for all transport costs. Maine buyers pay 5.5% state sales tax.
