Dodge Charger 1974 Description
1974 Dodge Charger
Original Survivor - 49400 Actual Miles
Extensively Documented Since New
The 1974 Dodge Charger is considered to be the last year of the performance Chargers and was the winningest body style ever for Richard Petty racing. Still today this car is considered a true heritage performance classic. Now residing in rust free Arizona I purchased it in 2013 in California. The Charger had not been driven in years when I purchased it and was last registered in 2014. I have tried to describe it honestly here but if you have questions please let me know. Delivered new at Fresno Dodge this Charger spent its entire life in the Central/Southern California area until I brought it to Phoenix. As you can see in the pictures it still has its original 1974 California blue license plates. This actual mileage 1974 Dodge Charger is equipped as it was originally with:
- 318 CI Engine
- Automatic Transmission
- Factory Hubcaps
- Factory Air Conditioning
- Factory AM Radio
- White Vinyl Bucket Seats
- Front Disc Brakes
- Electronic Ignition
- White Vinyl Top
- Tinted Windows
- Factory Painted White Side Stripe
- Chrome Side Mirror
While everything on this car is original except the dual exhaust the original owner had dual exhaust added to the car in 1980. The original receipt for the dual exhaust is included in the extensive documentation that comes with the car. The dual exhaust still looks almost new and sounds powerful and throaty just like a big block 440 Charger which is really cool to hear. I am going to try to post a video so you can see and hear it. The Charger starts right up runs super smooth and drives well just as you would expect a car with only 49000 miles to run like. The car is 100% drivable and usable as a daily driver just as it sits this very moment. Even the air conditioning is super cold. The tires are like new Fisk Classic Steel Radial tires all in great condition with lots of tread. Even the matching Fisk Classic Steel Radial spare tire is like new and never been on the ground. The Charger has a brand new vinyl top just installed. The paint is worn from time and weather. The Charger looks pretty good in the pictures as you can see but the paint is wearing through from age. You might consider a paint job depending on what you want to do with the car. Or maybe you just want to clear coat it and keep the patina too. Or leave it the way it is perhaps. Its only all original once. The body is super razor straight with ZERO rust and all original no-hit body panels. You can see in the pictures just how straight and clean the body is. The chrome trim and bumpers are in great shape and chrome looks really good. The little plastic bumper fillers are dry rotted with age and sun as you would expect. The interior is the original white vinyl bucket seat option and it is really pretty. The rear seat is in perfect condition but both front seats bottom seams are split. The passenger front seat back is fine but the drivers seat back seams are split as well. The carpet is not worn or torn and is in really good shape. The headliner is split in the seams and needs replacing. The door panels are in good shape as well. The original dash pad is cracked as you can see in the pictures. I was going to put a $100 dash cover which would look great. This Charger has tons of original factory dealer and original owner documentation including:
- Original Window Sticker
- Build Sheet
- Original Owners Manual
- Various Chrysler Corporation Promotional Materials
- Original Chrysler Warranty Card
- Original New Vehicle Temporary ID from the State of California
- Receipt From Adding Dual Exhaust in 1980
- Dodge Dealership Service Records
- Miscellaneous Service Records
- Fresno Dodge Salesman’s Business Cards
- Annual California Registration Receipts
- Owners Trip Log
- Much Much More
There is an amazing stack of various documents from Chrysler State of California automotive service facilities and owner records that will include items you have long since forgotten or possibly never seen before or even knew existed. This is truly an amazing car with an impressive amount of documentation. Granted the original owner may seem a bit neurotic for having kept so many documents and such detailed information about this car and his experience buying it and owning. But the reality is that this extensive information stands as testament to how much he loved and cared for this car. This is an awesome and special car and he knew it. Maybe he knew that after his time with this special car was over others like me and you could appreciate and enjoy that same experience of purchasing a new Dodge Charger during that time period. If there is anything that I can do to make this auction a more pleasurable experience please let me know. I do have the car for sale locally and reserve the right to remove the car at any point. If you have to ask permission to buy this car please do so before you bid on it. Please DO NOT bid on this car if you do not have the money to buy it or intend on completing this transaction. I have alot of service records and Dodge Dealer records but it appears all the actual service records are from independent service facilities for oil changes batteries exhaust etc. Sorry for the confusion.
