Dodge Deluxe 1948 Description

If you're looking for a great family project, this might be it. Here is your chance to own a piece of genuine original Detroit steel from the golden days of the US auto industry. With the prices of classic cars on the rise, it's getting tougher to find affordable restorable post-war gems like these.
Up for sale is a 1948 Dodge Deluxe 4-door sedan. Equipped with the flathead six 3.8L engine and 3-speed manual (three on the tree) fluid drive transmission. Features the super cool famous "suicide doors". This RUNS AND DRIVES. Engine starts right up and still runs strong. The original 6v system has been updated to 12v and a modern alternator installed to replace the original generator. I have the original generator which is included with the vehicle. Has new coil, ignition points, distributor cap and rotor. Drivetrain was re-sealed and some gaskets replaced a few years ago. I purchased this about 8 years ago and haven't had the time to do with it what I wanted to due to too many other projects. Would make a good driver with some work or a great candidate for a full restoration. I will include a rust free extra front driver door which I have. Please read description below as I have tried to list the overall condition to the best of my knowledge. I have several videos posted as well so please check them out and call or e-mail with any questions. 631-871-3459(Seth).
CONDITION:
The body is still sold with rust in the usual expected lower extremities. The car had bodywork and paint years ago and there is evident filler on many of the panels. Some of the side glass is cracked. The gas tank is missing and there is a portable fuel tank in trunk. Has the jack and what looks to be the original spare. The interior is in rough condition as you can see. The remaining fabric looks to be original The rear seat back looks to have been recovered in vinyl decades ago. The floors are still pretty solid. The doors all open and latch. The horn still works and most of the gauges function. Needle on the speedometer is popped off.
The engine starts up and runs strong. The 3-speed fluid drive transmission goes into forward and reverse gears and drives. Clutch functions good. Brakes are to the floor. I believe the front right wheel brake cylinder is leaking. Most of the ignition components have been replaced(ie coil, points, cap, rotor).
Ownership documents:
I have a transferable New York registration for this car. My state does not title cars prior to 1973 and this is the only document used to register and transfer ownership.
