1962 Dodge Dart 440 Convertible project offered by Gas Monkey Garage! The 1962 Dodge Dart 440 body style is a one year only design making it one of the rarest Convertible Mopars you’ll find! This example of the controversial styled (nuclear catfish?) Dart 440 Convertible was rescued from a “collectors” stash where it had been hoarded for many years with the intention of restoring it one day. And while they did go about collecting pieces for the build such as additional grills and bumpers (see all pics) one day never came. When I first saw it for sale I thought this would be a very unique build (you just don’t see many around) but the reality of a full schedule and too many projects made me realize this would just sit here on the lot and deteriorate further before I ever got to it, o I’m offering it to you so you can build it the way you want (due to our filming schedule we cannot perform any additional work on this car and I can’t build it for you). The exterior is in pretty good shape with most of the trim present and some spares already collected making for an easy restoration project. And while it is fairly solid and rust free there is rust present on the right rear fender area (see all pics).What looks to be the original 318 V8 is present but requires work (and additional parts) before attempting to start again after decades of being in-op. (this is to be considered a project and while many parts and pieces are present it is unknown what all will be required to make this car operable once again, OLD AS IS/WHERE IS and will need to be towed or trailered)!.
