Hurst shifter with a rebuilt Top Loader 4 speed 9 inch rear .457 gears with Spohn industry 4 bar tubular adjustable rear suspension...1968 428ci 505 hp professionally built by well known Ford engine builder Jeff Lawrence last year about 1000 or less miles on drive train, otor and trans rebuilt at a cost of about $10,000 ..
Always a favorite at car shows, eems to get more attention than cars much more valuable because there are not many around especially a 65 xl in this condition and modified..This car is adult owned and has only been driven to car shows and cruise nights since restoration never raced or abused in any way..
Custom made shorty headers, nd a full welded custom exhaust..All new Ford and auto meter racing gauges installed. It has 4 core radiator never runs over 185 degrees even in traffic on a 90 degree day..I restored this car to drive it, o everything works as it should ...
I put a lot of care and expense restoring this car, t is one of the nicest old Fords on long Island, ertainly a piece of long Island history as it lived its whole life mostly in Suffolk county long Island and was run at West Hampton, ational and Islip back in it's heyday 40 years ago.. No finer example of a Xl 500 with unique upgrades..
Everything has been attended to and dealt with except you might want to upgrade the drum brakes, did not, always found they worked fine for me but could be upgraded to disc.. Show it, ust drive or if you wish take it to the drag strip and run it should be about a high to mid 12 second car although I never had the time or the space to use the car to it's potential nor did I want to abuse the car..There is about $35,000 into the car most of the money spent in the last 12 months, very thing on it was cleaned, ixed or replaced no expense spared.. .
