Ford Other Pickups 1936 Description

Up for Auction is one 1936 Ford Truck. It came to use from a customer in PA that bought it from CA. We did the repair work over the winter and are now advertising for sale. It appears to be a home built truck that was done some time ago. The paint and interior are not original. And the body has been off of the frame at some point because the frame has been painted some time ago. The truck had been through several owners without being road worthy until recently. There is an extensive list or new and rebuilt parts on the truck now. Please read entire description and feel free to ask questions. There is a clean clear title that goes with the truck. The engine has been rebuilt. It is a 1949 flathead engine commonly referred to as an 8BA. It has been painted an earlier green and runs a single belt for an earlier look and feel. We pulled it apart to confirm that it was reliable and found no signs of premature wear. The valve train is clean and without sludge. The oil pump was replaced for cheap insurance. The cylinders are not scored or worn. Cross hatch was clearly visible and the compression is very good. 100 plus pounds per cylinder. It does not smoke leak or use oil. It has good power and many new components. It Does Not overheat or mark it's spot. The dual exhaust sounds good and gives a little rumble to the distinct flathead sound. The Cooling System has been replaced or rebuilt. The radiator was professionally tanked tested and repaired. It is as new. The water pumps thermostats and gauges were replaced and all work together to keep the truck running cool even when sitting for long periods of time. The Electrical System was completely replaced. It has been converted to 12 Volt. Wiring is 1940 Ford truck original style cloth over modern wire could be used. The generator is the only rebuilt part. Everything else is brand new. All new bulbs tail lights. wiring harness battery regulator switches etc. Everything is new. The key switch is modern Ron Francis style hidden just under the dash to keep the dash clean along with a pull switch for the lights. Th dimmer switch is on the floor rather than a column. The battery box has been relocated under the seat with a shut off switch in the seat riser. The gauges in the cab do not work. They are there for show. They will need to be converted to 12v.The Fuel System has been rebuilt or replaced. The tank was drained hot tanked and lined. The fuel line is all new form the tank to the new fuel pump. The carburetor was rebuilt and runs great. A new choke was installed and works as it should. The Steering System was gone through and a 1940 Ford steering box was rebuilt and installed along with the necessary bracket. The tie rod ends were replaced along with the king pins and shackles. The Suspension. New bushings shackles and seals were installed all of the way around. What was not replaced was cleaned inspected and painted. The leaves were separated and three leaves were removed on the front and rear springs. It rides less like a truck and more like a car now with the added benefit of being lower. The truck will need shocks. It is bouncy in the rear. The Tires are new Firestone wide white walls. The front are 5.50 x 16 and the rear are 7.50 x 15 on 1935 spoke rims with new inner tubes. The correct wire wheel support rings have been installed. The Brakes are all rebuilt refurbished or new. They are 1940 Ford brakes with 1940 Ford car pedals. The wheel cylinders master cylinder brake lines brake switch and fittings are all new. The brakes work great. The Transmission had been rebuilt. The gears looked good and show no signs of unusual wear. The synchros bearings and gaskets were replaced. It is the 39 style shifter with the later style helical cuts gears heavy case with the extra rib and the shifter is the desirable dual detent shifter. The transmission is quiet shifts smoothly and does not jump out of gear. The Body and interior...The firewall had been hacked up for a battery box and heater somewhere along the way. another truck cab donated the firewall patches and dash that we installed along the way. (see pics) The firewall is smooth and glossy now. There is minimal filler and fresh paint. The rest of the body work was done some time ago and may need to be freshened up for a show truck. The paint cleans up well and does not appear to be thin in any spots. It is presentable though in need of a coat of wax. The bed is nice with newish wood planks that are not rotted or loose. The driver's side door needs to be aligned and the hinges replaced. The weather strip needs to be replaced. All things to be done if/when it's painted. The glass on both doors is cracked. The windshield crank works as does the cowl vent. Both offer a nice breeze for summer driving. A firewall insulation pad has been installed to keep temperatures down inside of the cab but there is no carpet. The seats and door panels are presentable but older upholstery. The seat cushion has been replaced and makes for a comfortable though somewhat dated look and feel. The steering wheel is an original banjo wheel that needs a horn cover. The crank handles and door handles came out of a 49-50 Mercury and offer a nice custom touch. The rear bumper is a car bumper with home made brackets. The grill teeth need to be straightened as well. The Frame... We repaired a cracked cross member in the front and inspected and repaired as necessary. The front cross member bad section was cut out and another 36 cross member was sacrificed so this one could live on. The frame was painted and the shows well. The truck can be picked up and/or seen at:Joe Smith Early V8 and Hot Rod8405 Cleveland StHenrico VA23228 This truck is ready for the road. I would take it easy at first but I believe that this truck will need minimal work to be a daily driver a local cruise in favorite or a long distance hauler. I have been driving this truck back and forth to work and have had zero problems with it. It has good pick up and handles well. There are the few squeaks and rattles that come with an older vehicle. Carpet would certainly help with sound deadening. Feel free to ask questions. A nonrefundable PayPal deposit of 1k is required within 24 hours. The rest is due in cash in person. I will not ship. But I will make reasonable requests to assist with shipping. I can store the truck for 14 days after the end of the auction. Thanks
