Ford Mustang 1967 Description
Now THIS is how you build a trick resto-mod. Keep everything that's great about a 1967 Mustang fastback, nd subtly upgrade it in ways that improve performance and comfort without diluting its essential "Mustang-ness." A slam-dunk in every possible way, his pony is ready to play! From the GTA grille to the bright white rocker panel stripes, his fastback screams performance. And if you're going to drive a big flashing advertisement for speed like this, ou'd better be sure it's right because all eyes will be on you. As a result, he bodywork is nicely done and the vivid electric blue paint jumps out at you right away. Just sight down one of those quarter panels and you'll see crisp reflections staring back at you. The doors line up just so, nd the hood fits right. The only possible demerits are the use of some original trim and maybe a few chips that only prove this Mustang was built to drive. The paint is called Super Sonic Blue, nd it glows like it's radioactive or something, specially when the sun's going down and the light's hitting it just right. There are proper GTA badges on the rockers, ut even without them, here's no question what this car is, hich probably speaks loudly of its status as an icon. The interior is pretty stock, nd when the design is right, s there any reason to add a bunch of upgrades? The bucket seats wear correct pleated seat covers that are in good condition and the center console with the automatic transmission's T-handle shifter is a critical part of the GTA's street cred. A handsome wood-rimmed Grant steering wheel looks a lot like a Shelby piece, nd it frames the original gauges, hich are joined by a pair of Auto Meter dials for oil pressure and temperature. An updated stereo head unit lives in the original AM radio's slot in the dash, ust above the cool "garage door" storage compartment that was a cool feature on the '67s. The back seat shows a little ear and some fading, hich is probably inevitable given the fastback's big rear window, ut you can't beat the practicality of a fold-down rear seat. In addition, he trunk is ready for your gear and offers what appears to be a recent gas tank. The engine is a torquey 390 cubic inch V8 that was the top engine in 1967. Upgrades include an Edelbrock intake and 4-barrel carburetor, rick open-element air cleaner, nd a set of beautiful ceramic-coated long-tube headers. The engine is covered in Ford Blue paint and works rather well with the blue bodywork. Custom finned aluminum valve covers are a retro touch that looks right at home in this vintage Mustang and a heavy-duty cooling system with dual electric fans manages the BTUs. It's backed by a stout C6 3-speed automatic and a 9-inch rear, o the powertrain's virtually bulletproof. Disc brakes were added up front, long with a new front suspension that includes tubular A-arms and power rack-and-pinion steering. Big block mufflers sound downright wicked with the snarky big block, nd it sits on classic Halibrand-style alloys and staggered 245/40/17 front and 275/40/17 rear performance radials. With a cool look, ig block power, nd great build quality, his is a resto-mod that hits all the right notes.
