For your consideration is a 1965 Galaxie 500 Z code 390 4 barrel car. I will start by telling you why I am selling and how the project came about. I bought this car because it is factory black on black with a decent engine and from dry TX. As you will see the restoration was started and what is done was putting the car on the right path. I am selling because I am currently restoring an R code 427 and a 60 Country Sedan wagon. What I am looking to get out of this car is really just my parts and what the previous owner spent on the engine.
To start, here is about 10,000 in receipts. Essentially this car needs painted and put back together. If it doesn't sell for a decent amount I will either bolt it together or part the car out. I just dont want to see the car in pieces.
You get everything you need to finish.... tons of trim!!! up to 3 sets of some pieces!
Here is the list of new stuff.
Correct C5AE 390 rebuilt. .030 over, 0:1 compression, delbrock performer RPM intake, 50 CFM carb, 8AE heads (valve port work, ardened valve seats, omp 924 springs), 90 Duration, 30 lift cam, arland Sharp Roller Rockers, S Stands, hafts and ends. hardened push rods, ockers studs, 500 RPM Damper, ecurved Duarspark, SD box, ustom long tube headers going into custom 3" flow master exhaust. (the car sounds absolutely amazing. Ready to eat your neighbors Chevelle)
Fresh C6 with 2200 RPM stall and shift kit
Show quality re-chromed bumpers
NOS 390 badges
All hood brackets, atches, umper brackets, prings, in, ad support, head light buckets, inner fenders ALL powder coated OEM chassis black. Will hold up to just about anything and will not rust like a painted finish would. Show quality stuff.
Fuel tank restored relined (can take race fuel or leaded as well!)
The car is a factory 390 Z code 3 speed with over drive. The dealer installed a 3 speed Hurst floor shift. You may say, ait but it has an auto. It has both. I put the new auto in as I was building it so my wife can drive. I removed the pedals and the stick stuff and put them on the shelf. I HAVE ALL OF THE STICK STUFF! You get it with this car as well! The car has a factory 3:50 ratio rear end. Just about every bolt and nut for the car are labeled. You get all the trim, ights, ezels, tc to finish this car! Really there are doubles and triples of most trim. You also get the oe black steering column and wheel.
I know what most people ask when it comes to 65-68 Fords. "How is the frame?" Well this car spent all of its running life in Texas. I did reinforce the frame in the areas that I know get weak. I did a depth test to see how the metal was and added some pieces where I thought it could have been thicker. This was proactive, ot reactive. I was building this car to be mine and not sell. Please see pictures of where I added metal. Again - I did this proactively. I have had a few of these cars, know where their weak points are and I addressed them!
You will need to do some body work to the car. Look at the pictures. While its all there, ou will need to spend some time. Nothing major, ust needs work to be perfect. roof and top panels are straight as an arrow! There was an optional piece of trim that ran down the entire mid side of the car. Front to rear. It really didn't look great on the black cars. So I had the metal fab guy at our body shop weld in those holes. He did it right and ruff cleaned them up. Along with that I did find some putty work in the rear quarters. Looks like new rear quarters were hung at some point. It may seem like a lot is going on but I dug into the car and I like to advertise exactly whats going on so you know!
How it runs. I didn't build the engine but whoever did put some top notch parts on this thing! I drive it around my neighborhood now and then. It scoots! Clearly you cannot drive this car home as it needs put together but I have put a good 30 miles on it just messing around the neighborhood! So it can drive right up your driveway!
If you are interested in the car, lease bid! LOOK at all of the pictures - you will know you have a GREAT starting point and something special here.

Forgot to add... The car has factory green tint glass that is all in great shape! Sets the west coast and south cars apart from the mid and east.
Thanks!
