this car is from 1959. heads up there will forever be something to work on. don't kid yourself into thinking everything is in perfect order. classic car owners understand this. part of the fun I had owning this car was trying to decide what it needed or which system to concentrate on, but mostly the car told me!
it is a solid car. as you can see she cleans up well. if I had a dime for every time someone commented I wouldn't have it on ebay - seriously. that said, the paint is good from a distance (as this color has a mystique aboutit)- and that's cool for cruising but not for close-up due to fading and wear
the somewhat badness - yet nothing too far beyond repair
driver door has some small dentstrunk-lid has a small dentbehind rear wheel wells have some rust (very normal for these, check forum- I try to keep the drain holes clear)rear right wing has an edge clipped (I have a spare comes with car) and there are plenty of sources for panels if you want to go crazyand doa showroom restoreelectric seat - killer option!can hear clicking on switch but motor does not engage all directionsdetent plate - very common issue look at forums - I bought a new one, comes w car, did not install (this has to do with tightening upshifting on the column as it can get a bit sloppy over time)
headliner actually 90% good. there are a couple holes where you can outfit side clips for visors and there is one partial seem that is repairabledashpad - whoever installed it did a wonky job and its just not as cool and tight as it could bebottom of door panels and kick plates - of course on these older cars original door panels and kick plates get warn on the bottomand a little out of shape. small muffler leak one side of rear4 wheel drum brakes, need I say more? I have all the info on disk conversion with these wheels if you need
if you are in the market for a 1959 you already know you can never use enough rubber, seals and stripping if not garaged! it stays pretty dry in rain, but I would cover it if extended periods and work towards replacements as needed.
more goodness
this car runs and drives (I take on local roads in the neighborhood to keep it fresh)this will drive onto a flatbed trailer - the only way to tow big classicsyou can park it outside (but why?)with relatively little interaction (moisture control)the sill plates on the entry to the doors look great and have shineshe seems pretty darn straight overall - no sign of any major accidents above or belowthe metal work bumpers, trim, emblem, chrome and stainless is all in good conditionthe interior seats carpet and panels seem to all be in place and look okall the glass is okoriginal keys for ignition, trunk and doorstires are good and ride is smooth and steering is way smooth
I have owned many classics. I really fell in love with this car for whatever reason and kept it for 7 years. Nice lines - built like a tank.
It is real nice on the open road cruising. Not as great in town stop and go. Drum brakes, heavy car and the carb isonly a mildpowerhouse. You can bolt on a 600+ CFM carb and step things up considerably if looking for more, but then you would want to beef up brakes with disks.
Nice entry to the classic carmarket without throwing down 30k. Good parts availability and market value strong and rising. These are really gaining popularity.
Great starter car for a restore. Great first car for a high school kid and his dad to work on. Great retirement car for hobby enthusiasts. Great car to purchase as future parade car.
