Ford F-150 1979 Description

1979 Ford F150 Custom Stepside 4x4 Free Wheeling Edition 1979 Ford F150 Custom Stepside 4x4 Free Wheeling Edition I bought this truck sight unseen and under the impression it had a new engine, rancho lift kit, and a set of useable 33’s to put on the wheels. I was told it was a daily driver up to 12 months ago when it was parked. I was told it needed a little tune up from sitting and the lock out replaced. I bought it with the plan of investing 1 month max into tuning it up, swapping the new tires on, and fixing the body up a bit for a camping/mud truck for my Daughter and myself to enjoy. This has not turned out to be the case so I am throwing in the towel this project requires more time than I can give. The bad (reality) The reality is the rear shackles need replaced because it does have a Rancho lift but they installed it onto rusty shackles. The body was far worse than they let on but can be fixed. The rear brakes need the hose and long line to passenger rear drum replaced, the tires on it are bad and the 33’s it came with were worse, and the engine is not at all new and in need of some wrench time. The power steering needs bled and the passenger lock out is shot. The final nail was when I pulled the valve cover to replace the gasket and seen the valve stem seals are shot. I already have 3 weeks over my intended build time and would need to put in a few months more with the little free time I have which won’t do so time for a different project. I have done the following work to the truck. When I got it home I replaced the battery terminals cleaned the grounds and installed additional ground wires because the battery could not get good connection when trying to start it. The Holley 500 cfm 2bbl on the truck was dumping fuel like a toilet flushes so I ordered a kit and rebuilt it. I found when they replaced the carb they left the OEM EGR to intake gasket and had vacuum lines just laying unhooked all over the place. I replaced them and ran them to the power booster, distributor, and EGR. I swapped out the fuel fouled plugs, set the timing as best I could after finding the distributor hold down was loose. I changed the oil and fired the truck. It ran ok but smokes from time to time. I ran a compression test and it passed so I figured one of the valve stem seals could be shot turned out they all are bad and need to be replaced. The truck has the free wheeling stripes, aluminum wheels, and steering wheel. It has the 400 engine, C6 transmission, NP205 transfer case, 9 inch rear and dana 44 front. It is a short bed step side. This is a project truck meaning it runs and drives but I would not take it on any long haul road trips until some work was done. It comes with a replacement rear brake hose, glove box door, heater core, and blower motor. Search youtube forsDeb0mWiuec to see a video I took of the truck to better show what it is.
