Ford Mustang 1968 Description

* * * ONLY SERIOUS BIDDERS PLEASE!! * * *

READ THIS ENTIRE AD. I HAVE DISCLOSED ALL I KNOW HERE.

This 1968 Mustang Convertible is a beautiful, solid, classic car. These cars are not easy to come by and the 1968 body style has become a very collectible year. If you are looking for a nice, solid,vintage Mustang, then here it is. I am listing this car at a fair market starting price with no reserve.

This car has a clear California title.

I have owned this car for the last 7+ years and it has been garage kept the entire time. The backstory on this beauty is my father is a mechanic by trade and once he retired he began restoring old Mustangs. He built this car for me as a gift and drove it to me cross country (Tennessee to California) once he finished it (see the pictures of the car crossing into Arkansas and Texas on the way to me). This is a clean, standard convertible.

My father lives in Tennessee and purchased the Mustang body locally in late 2009. He then spent the next 6 months doing a total restoration. He is a skilled body man and stripped the car down to the bare metal then replaced any weak areas. My father bought an original style Ford 200 6-cylinder motor and installed it along with a C4 automatic transmission.

However, the car has been sitting for almost a year and is currently not running. I have not had the time to work with the car recently. It just needs some TLC to get it running again. I am in the process of moving and I have nowhere to store the car, so I have decided to let it go. I am selling the car as is. It needs a battery and someone to diagnose what it needs to get it running again as I am not a mechanic. Before I parked it, I was driving it on weekends.

Let me state up front, this car is beautiful but it is not a total show car. If that is what you are expecting, then stop now. It does have some minor flaws. My family has built, owned and sold enough of these cars that I know it is desirable and getting much harder to find. Just search eBay for this year car and you will see how much a fully restored model is going for.

The original car data from the door tag is shown below. You can also compare the door tag to the tag on the dash (shown in the split picture).

PAINT / BODY: The car was stripped down to the bare metal. An etching primer was applied and then a sealing primer before it was taken to the paint shop. It has been waxed and kept under a car cover in the garage. This car is a head turner. It will get you noticed. The color is Tahoe Turquoise which is an original Mustang color from 1968.

My father went over the whole car and made it solid metal where there were any weak areas. The pictures will show you the rest of the body. Ask if you have any specific questions. Frame rails and torque boxes are solid.

INTERIOR: This car got an entire new interior. White vinyl seats, door panels and console. Turquoise blue carpet andseatbeltto match the paint. In need of a Mustang appropriate radio.

All glass is present. This is not an A/C car.

BRAKES / WHEELS / TIRES: This car has manual brakes. No power steering.The car has a set of later year spinner hubcaps on it. I also have a set of original 1968 style hubcaps that go with the car (see pictures). The tires have good tread and lots of wear left. Tires need to be aired up.

CONVERTIBLE TOP: The top is manual. It had a brand new white top installed during the restoration. There is also a matching “boot” that covers the top when down. The convertible frame is solid.

OTHER AREAS: Trunk area is in good shape. Spare tire and jack included. As far as I know, the turn signals, headlights, tail lights & side marker lights all work.

If you need to see something I have not shown in the pictures, just ask me. If you have a question I cannot answer, I will contact my father.
