Jeep Renegade 1982 Description
Beautifully Fully Restored 1982 Jeep CJ 5
When I say Fully Restored this was a 2 year frame off top to bottom, front to back full restoration. No expenses were spared.
This Jeep is a one owner.
Purchased in December 1981 right here in Johnson City, TN
This was not a jerk the frame off, paint and hide what you can and sell it. This jeep has been my baby for 30+ years. Has slightly over 1000 miles since restoration.
No, it has not been ragged out off road. The only off road this jeep has ever seen is gravel. Never been in any type of accident, period. Since it has lived in Tennessee salt and sand is not an issue.
All rust was cut out and replaced, mainly the front floor boards “never seen a jeep that did not rust around the drain holes in the front floorboards” also rusted tailgate completely removed and replaced. Four different types of undercoating for anti-rust applied to the bottom of jeep tub, body and frame.
All new accessories are stainless steel.
Engine completely rebuilt, with new carburetor.
Serial number on engine matches.
Pretty much everything on this is new.
The front and back seats are original.
Security system installed, with key fob for activation.
Tuffy security console box installed with CD player and amp.
Tuffy security boxes installed in back with speakers.
Now a list of some minor problems to be fixed;
The new AC/Heater pull controls are crap, I have the new heavy duty control cables from Barney’s Jeeps parts to replace them.
Needs a new light switch, the headlights come on but the interior light flashes on and off.
Has a couple of paint chips that need to be touched up, and one section under the gas fill the blue boarder needs replaced.
Has a bad spot on the new back seat carpet, apparently someone spilled something on the carpet and caused it to stain.
Back seat has to come out to replace the carpet.
All this is a weekend project and she’s brand new, ready to roll.
Overall this is a great looking CJ5, not many CJ5’s left out there in this condition. I have over $18K in this restoration.
Anyone who has ever done a complete frame off restoration realizes the amount of work that went into this project.
Never really intended on selling this jeep, but it’s time for our family to buy a new house.
