Mercury Marauder 1976 Description
1976 Mercury Grand Marquis 2 dr hdtp. 32. 00 actual miles . Built 350-400 hp original 460. C6 automatic trans - 9 inch rear end - Power steering - brakes - tilt - cruise - Factory air- Power windows - power seats - power locks - Remote mirrors and trunk - Flawless original 2 tone leather - Front Disc brakes- int wipers - hideaway headlights - ----- I purchased this car from the 2nd owner who had recently purchased it from the original 89 year old owner. Other than tires and battery it was 100% original. His plans were to build it into a street machine. He had the engine removed and professionally built into a 350 to 400 hp engine. It has a mild thumper cam ported and polished heads etc - etc - (I have specs) Aluminum High riser with a new Holly 750. He also had custom headers built and run through 2 stainless mufflers 2 1/2 inch exaust. The engine runs very strong with perfect dependability. (I drove it home from DesMoins to my home in wa state without a hickup. It was built to run on 87 octane and does it all day. It's a good thing because the gas millage isn't worth a dam. He also had the entire AC system rebuilt including a new compressor. It was converted to the new freon. Other misc components were also replaced at that time. The car sounds awesome with the thumper cam and headers. As you can see. it is loaded with options and better yet. everything works. Now for a list of my updates --------- When I got the car home I pulled the factory radio which was junk and installed a high powered Sony am fm cd. It is in the factory location. I also removed all 4 factory speakers and replaced with MB Quart. I also installed a new holly 750 with electric choke. (it had no choke) I also installed the chrome air cleaner and valve covers. The body was untouched but had several small door dings down both sides so I had them taken out and had the only the gold painted . The body is ding free and all chrome etc is excellent. The underneath of the car was rust free as was the rest of the car but it was ugly and dirty. I removed the entire front end and rear end and suspension had it blasted. painted and replaced. Painted entire underneath. I lowered th car about 3-4 inches. I also replaced all 4 shocks. The brakes had just been done and are like new and work that way. I also replaced the steering gear and drag link as they had very minor ware. I then had the front end realighned. It drives perfect. I also installed a new set of 20 inch wheels and tires. Trunk is like new. Not 100 point show car but best you could ever find. Planned to never sell but just bought 64 side oiler 427 Murader and need room and $$$$. My investment far exceeds my reserve (don't even ask)Good Luck. Call with questions. Dick at 509-552-1390
