Mercury Comet 1964 Description

I bought this Comet in Dec-2004 out of Macon Ga. from a family member of the original owner who purchased the car in 1964 in Tulsa Oklahoma. The car was originally Wimbleton White with White and Brown interior. I had the car completely stripped down to bare metal and repainted in Rangoon Red and changed the Brown trim in the interior to the same Rangoon Red. There was no rust on the body. All the body panels including floor boards and trunk are original. All the chrome and stainless trim is original and in very nice condition. I only had the bumpers re-chromed. I removed the 289 4 barrel motor and replaced it with a 351W built by A&C Racing Engines of Hagerstown Md. The motor makes roughly 9 1/2:1 compression which runs fine on pumped 93 octane fuel. It has a very rough idle solid cam flat top pistons aluminum heads and intake. Carburetor is a Quick Fuel 750 CFM Ignition is MSD electronic. The transmission is the original C-4 equipped with a shift kit and a Reverse Manual Valve Body. The B&M floor shifter shifts the gears manually in a reverse direction. The rear is a shortened Quick Performance Ford 9" with 370 gears. The rear leaf springs were moved in for tire clearance using the Crites re-location kit. The front brakes were replaced with a MPB Disc Brake Conversion. The car has an aluminum fuel cell mounted in the trunk with a Holley electric fuel pump supplying the fuel through a 1/2" fuel line. I still have the original fuel tank which is in very good condition. This car has no P/S P/B or A/C. The manual steering gear box is worn and should be replaced or rebuilt. This car is a show worthy weekend cruiser that always gets lots of attention. Call or Text Ed on 410-804-3123 for anymore information
