Mercury Montego 1973 Description
I found it right here in South Carolina in 1995 and drove it home. Since then I have stored it in a fully enclosed building since 1995 This has got to be one of the most all ORIGINAL cars that I have ever had. I have taken a lot of pictures hoping you can get a good view of how this Q code car really is. Since I have owned it I don't think we have put 200 miles on it. Like I said It will not crank up now but I think the carburetor may be gummed up.The last time we ran it I think was 2007 for a parade. The reason we want to sell it is we don't have enough space or time to enjoy this car so It has to go. I have been collecting vehicles for over 37 years The only damage I think it has ever had is on the drivers door and the front of the quarter panel. The door molding is bent on the bottom as in the pictures. The rest of the car, think is still all original paint. THE MOTOR= If you look at the pictures good you will see that all of the heater hoses and clamps are the original ones.Everything is just perfect. I have never touched any thing on the motor it is just liked it was in 1973. I think when I ran the numbers it said there only around 1100 mercury Q code cars in 1973.The motor does turn over really good it just won't crank up. TRIM= All of the seats are blue vinyl. The top of the drivers seat has a small tear. All other seats are perfect. The carpet is original. The headliner has a tear on the back right side. MILES= The odometer shows 05467 it has flipped over one time. WHEELS = It has 5 factory chrome 500 wheels three of them have the mercury center cap one has been replaced with a ford mustang center cap. One is for the spare tire. THE TRUNK= As most of you know these cars had a bad reputation for water leaks.I looked very hard in the trunk and in the rear quarter panels. I found one needle size pin hole in the truck floor. The quarters look very solid inside & out. THE BODY=All of the body is just perfect. The only thing I don't really know is if the black on the hood and lower tu-tone came from the factory. Front & rear bumpers have great chrome. THE TIRES= They have been on the car since I bought it. They hold air great but they do have some age on them.THE TITLE=It has had a South Carolina title from what I can tell for a good while. I HAVE TOLD YOU EVERYTHING THAT I KNOW ABOUT THIS CAR. IF YOU DON'T SEE IT IN THE PICTURES SEND ME A E-MAIL AND I WILL TRY TO DO MY BEST TO FIND OUT. PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME WHAT MY RESERVE IS !!! I WILL HAVE THE RESERVE SET AT A CONSERVATIVE AMOUNT. I DO HAVE THE CAR FOR SALE LOCALLY. I can help get the car loaded on to a truck or trailer with a rollback that we have.
