Mercury convertible 1953 Description

Car is an Original Calif. Street Rod built in San Diego, CA. I was told car was built late 70's. Car has 472 Cadillac Eng., Turbo 400 Trans, And 9 in. Ford Rear End. Many body modifications to include reverse opening hood, hidden door and trunk release, 1953 Corvette grille etc. Top is a removable Carson top with metal framework. I bought car 4 yrs. ago exactly as it sits today. Unfortunately I have not had time to complete or enjoy. There is basically no interior other than seats, console and dash. No side windows or regulators. Car has zero rust and shows no signs of rust repair. Car ran and drove when I bought it. I was taken on a ride by owner to include speeds in excess of 70 MPH. I also drove car. Car has not been driven since. It is stored indoors and has been started and moved a few times. Car was owned at one time by JR Drake at Kick Ass Rod Shop In NC. I have talked to him and he had all good things to say about car to include saying the framework underneath car was an excellent job. While he owned it was pinstriped ( ? ) and battery moved to trunk. I can't give many other details about car except that it is a Beautiful example of an Original Calif. Street Rod with a lot of History. I fell in love with it and probably paid too much for it. This Car needs to be driven and enjoyed. Finish it as you like or get it back on the road and drive as is.
