Plymouth Scamp 1973 Description
I am selling my 1973 Plymouth Scamp (Dodge Dart) that is in great shape. I will be as detailed as a I can be in the description but please don't hesitate to ask any questions. Please keep in mind this is a 50 year old car and nota concourse restoration so please don't expect a $30,000 car. The car does not have a warranty and is sold as is where is but you are certainly welcome to come check it out in person or to have a mechanic come check it out PRIOR to the end of the auction. I got burnt on the last two listings, so please only bid if you have the money. Now on to the car....
1973 Plymouth Scamp with absolutely no rust on it. I had the car stripped to almost bare metal before I primed (epoxy and 2K) and painted it (metallic single stage from Summit Racing). All the panels, floors and underside are in awesome shape. I painted the car myself and it looks good but is not a $5k professional job so please keep that in mind. I didn't wet sand or buff the car to bring out the polish because I like the more stealthy look but it has 5 coats of color so it should be able to be sanded and polished pretty nice. The "Plymouth" lettering on the sides are just vinyl decals and can be removed if you prefer.
Drivetrain: The car currently has a 318 which aside from an aftermarket Edelbrock intake and carb, I believe to be entirely factory. I just did a tune up and put a new alternator on the car yesterday. The car also has an automatic transmission (904 I believe). Both the engine and the transmission work great. Attached is a link of the car running. https://youtu.be/cYikAkYw1xE
I also have another Dodge 360 engine on the stand and ready to go. I don't know a ton about it other than the person I bought it off said it had really really low miles on the rebuild and it sounded good when I got it a few months ago. I pulled off the factory oil pan to install the new oil pickup and the proper oil pan so that the motor can be dropped into the car (the factory pan has a sump in the back which doesn't fit the factory frame); when I had the pan off I looked at the internals and the cylinder walls and they look great. I also purchased the flexplate adaptor so that if you want this motor can be bolted into the car without having to modify anything at all, plug and play. I also have a brand new set of Hooker Super Comp headers with the gaskets and hardware if you wanted to replace the current factory exhaust manifolds.
Currently the rear axle is a spool rear which means that you will have to put it on a trailer as these should not be driven on the street - with that said I did buy an entire rear axle set up from hub to hub that can be bolted in and is ready to go as well (it has a 3.xx gear ratio). Honestly I wasn't sure if I wanted to make it a street or strip car and just kind of ran out of time with it. Between the extra motor and the rear axle there is well over an extra $1-2k that could be resold if not used.
The interior is in really good shape and has a brand new carpet. The front seat is from a 1970 Dart but I do have the factory seat to go with it but it will need to be recovered if you wanted to swap them back out. The seats in the car now are in good shape. Interior wise it does "need" a new dash pad that is only 6 bolts, the two hard cardboardsail panel piecesand a plastic trim piece that goes on top of the driver's side door, but other than that the entire is in good condition.
