Pontiac Firebird 1967 Description

1967 PONTIAC FIREBIRD RAM AIR 400 FRAME OFF PRO-TOURING BUILD MATCHING NUMBERS 1967 REAL FIREBIRD 400FRAME-OFF RESTO MATCHING NUMBERS PARTS INCLUDEDVERY HIGH QUALITY PRO-TOUR BUILD NUNZI ROMANO HIGH DOLLAR E-HEAD 467cuin BUILD Please read the entire description and give me a ring at the 904-419-7272 if you are ready to purchase. Lots of nice Camaro and Firebird Pro-Tour builds are built on cars that weren’t even V8 cars or have any real collectibility to them. This is a very rare true 1967 400 Firebird. It began as a rust free North Carolina car and a complete frame off restoration was performed. The original engine from the original carb. distributor to the oil pan was preserved in good condition and set on a roll around stand and goes with the car. The original rearend also comes with the car. The original transmission is still in the car. Many of the hard to find original parts are included. If the car was to be taken back to original at some point later in life it would not be difficult. Everything about this build is top shelf. The paint finish is as close to perfect as I think youll find anywhere. You can compare it to highest quality builds available today. The car shows as and is a fresh build. I have about 3k mostly show miles on the car. Engine: Nunzi Romano built stroked Pontiac 467 with ported high flow 87cc E-heads(93 octane). Tomahawk Intake. Nunzi 2042 cam(like Ram Air IV). Crower rods. Super Duty pistons. MSD billet distributor. MSD wires. NGK Iridium plugs. MSD 6al. Holley Annular 850 red billet discharge with electric choke. balanced assembly. blueprinted nitrite crank. stainless valves. high volume oil pump. SFI Balancer. road race oil pan. New Ram Air setup. and Griffin radiator. Engine should have no problem with 550-575HP engine dyno. If you have known Pontiacs for years you know Nunzi was considered the first and most respected Pontiac builder and tuner. In his day he was all over all the Pontiac and Hot Rod magazines with performance builds and restorations. He no longer is in business and has retired which makes this high quality build even more desirable. Engine runs cool. is tuned to perfection and starts easily hot or cold. With the current Raim Air Restorations 3. 5" exhaust probably sounds as heavenly as any muscle car you’ve heard. Engine tuning: So many carbed muscle cars run too rich or too lean. Even if they are tuned for WOT on a dyno they still stink and run like crap. I bought an Innovate MTX-L A/F gauge and mounted it next to the shift light and gauges. I spent considerable time taking the 600. 00 Annular and billet parts Holley and tuned it for idle. off idle crispness. part throttle pre PV and part throttle post PV. cruise and WOT. It would take a fuel injection system to match the tune of this car. It idles at 13 to 1 and stays there or near it in all stages except cruise which is near 14 to 1 and WOT where its tuned for 12. 5 to 1. All the work is done and I dont think it loses anything to a modern LS motor in drivability and certanly not performance. The timing is perfect. I spent a great deal of time getting a cool idle. quick and easy starts and optimum performance with no knock. The billet MSD is a vacuum advance system for excellent drivability. gas mileage and performance. Add the NGK iridiums. MSD6AL and all new parts and it couldnt be better. Most people run from vacuum because they have too much compression or a poor tune. This one suffers from neither. Exhaust: Hooker Super Comp headers jet coated. Ram Air Restorations 3. 5” oval to 3” round over axle custom fit aluminized and painted exhaust. SpinTech mufflers. I think thats the finest setup you can buy. Transmission: Original/factory TH400 built heavy duty with billet parts. Beautiful and rare NOS Hurst dual gate floor mount shifter(not cheap). Continental 3k stall 10” bulletproof converter. aluminum heavy duty custom driveshaft. GM 12 Bolt rearend with 3. 73 gears completely rebuilt and fresh with TA axle cover. The driveline is virtually bullet proof and can stand up to most anything. Brakes: Willwood 1” Master cylinder. Wilwood 13” red powder coat 6 piston fronts. Wilwood 12” red powder coat 4 piston rears. Tuff stuff Booster. new stainless brake lines. New Lokar stainless emergency brake cables and parts. I searched hard and long and used many of the parts DSE uses except I preferred Wilwood over Baer. I think this setup is as fine as youll find. Fuel system: RobbMC sending unit 1/2” feed. HP150 quiet electric fuel pump. 10 AN feed line. High flow 100 micron prefilter. High flow 40 micron fuel filter. 8 AN Carb log. Aeromotive 13301 regulator. 6 AN return. 1000HP capable. I wanted to make sure fuel would never be an issue. It may be a little over doing it but it looks and operates effortlessly. Wheels: Fresh Front CCW anodized center and polished lip 18x8 LM20 3 piece wheels with Nitto 245/40/18 NT-05s. Rears CCW anodized center and polished lip 18x10. 5 LM20 3 piece wheels with Nitto 285/40/18 NT-05DRs. CCW wheels are as light as any and as strong as any on the market. I think they fit perfectly and look as good as you’ll find. The tires are top shelf and are outstanding for either straight line and/or lateral acceleration. Suspension: Front Global West 600lb springs. Rear Global West CAT5 spherical bearing springs. nbsp;bilstein HD shocks. Global west tubular upper control arms. Helwig front and rear pro-tour sway bars. Close ratio GM steering box. Protour alignment. The rear spring kit alone is 900. 00. I did not want to convert the car to rear coils because I wanted to stay close to original and have the best I could get. GW rear springs arent cheap but their spherical bearing springs are comparable in performance to some of the best rear coil setups. The rear leafs are also considered as good as factory leafs with traction bars. The overal performance of this setup is the best youll find on leafs. The stance is as good as it gets without cutting and tubbing the car. Exterior: All chrome. emblems and stainless is new or original and like new. All the glass looks outstanding. All the rubber and weather strip is fresh. Since it was a no rust car there is no filler and the body is as straight as an arrow. The paint is completely fresh and is the original Champagne color in a PPG base coat and clear coat hand rubbed finish. There is no orange peal on this car anywhere. All the body lines and gaps are outstanding. There is not one ding or scratch on this car and I mean just that. Interior: New reproduction black interior. carpet headliner. etc. rare factory custom door panels. fold down rear seat. and power windows. Tilt wheel with near mint 69 Trans AM Formula wheel and reproduction horn button. The interior is as nice as you could hope for on all counts. Has full gauges mounted in the center. tach. oil pressure. water. shift light and O2 sensor. It was originally a gold interior and vinyl top car. Cant say I liked either so I went with black interior and left the vinyl off. Performance: I honestly can say that this car could stand up to most any vintage or modern muscle car being produced period. 0-60 its near untouchable with the current setup. The power is immediate and brutal. The drag radials can find no comfort unless its 50mph or higher. Without braking the car it burns all of first and half of second as straight as an arrow with those sticky tires and outstanding suspension. If you drop the pressure on the DR’s and launch it on a sticky track it should 60 foot rather impressively. It can run door to door with a 2012 Viper from a 70 MPH roll on. Its handling and braking is as outstanding as its straight line. It probably outstops any car Ive been in. It lays flat in a turn and really needs to be taken to a track which I have never done. I’m not sure how fast it really is. I’ve only raced it on the street 3 times. It killed a new worked Charger. stayed next to 2012 Viper who got on it first. and humiliated a 500HP supercharged new Camaro from a stop to about 70MPH. It shifts perfectly and firmly right at 6000RPM. You need only point it and hit the gas. It never gets sideways or scares you at all. You only need to learn to manage the expletives. If you need to stop fast don’t worry. between the Wilwood brakes and the sticky Nitto NT-05 tires it will easily lift your butt out of the seat if you hit the brakes too hard. There is nothing that this car doesn’t do very very well. I’ve had Cops who heard about it come over to go for a ride and video the car. It is a ride of a lifetime for sure. In Summary you have a very top shelf pro-touring and extremely powerful and drivable 1st GEN Firebird and a matching numbers frame off resto Firebird 400 in one. There are 2 engines and 2 rearends and many of the other original parts included. I did not cut corners on anything. Everything is the best of the best in the best condition youll find. You can’t build anything like this in less than couple of years of steady paintstaking work. Their is a ton of labor in this car on top of the very high dollar parts. There is no way you could be anything other than thoroughly impressed with every facet of this build. It retains its pure Pontiac soul and does everything the LSX cars can do and better.
