Pontiac Le Mans 1976 Description

Are you looking for something different?

This car is a very unique build! Ordered in Firethorn red with Pontiac 350 2 barrel (400 was standard), No AC, bucket seats, center console, floor shift automatic, rally gauge package with speedo, tach, oilpressure, water temperature, volt meter and fuel gauge -ALLWORKING(usually found on Trans Am and Grand Prix), rally II wheels, G80 rear endand more. It cost nearly $5,000 in 1976. Out of just 8,056 built in 1976 how many came like this from the factory with buckets and console? How many came with a 350, buckets, console, rally gauges, no AC, Posi (Safe T Track rear end), (plus more)? Everyone who has seen the car and the documents in person believes this is likely a one of one car because of how this car is equipped.Do your research and judge for yourself.

I do have the documentation from PHS itemizing what was on this car when it was ordered (see photo a copy of one of those documents).

I have never seen another one like it much less ever seen one for sale!I am confident you will never see another one.

It is not perfect but none of them were perfect back then.I am leaving it better than I found it.I must stress the car is not perfect. The car is a driver. The paint is not perfect. Frankly, this is a mid-70’s GM car, it was not perfect when it left the factory. There has been some light paint and patch work done prior to my ownership.Firethorn red was known to fade or oxidize. There are some tiny spots of rust but you have to look closely to find them. It is a 10 footer. It does drip transmission fluid from time to time. I have detected no other fluid leaks. The original owners added a trailer hitch and it remains on the car today.Car was undercoated when new and it definitely protected the car.It has a SOLID frame. It has four nearly brand new tires with less than 400 miles on them. The spare is original and never been down from what I could tell.It has a brand new battery. It has a small exhaust leak around the muffler, not bad but just wanted you to know it is not perfectly quiet and has a slight rumble. The carpet is original and has wear but shows well. The upholstery and headliner are in great condition. The dash is un-cracked and there are no cracks in the glass. Windows go up and down like they should. No third row seating. The gauges, radio and clock have all been restored to working condition at a cost of over $1500. The instrument lenses should be cleaned or replaced if you want them to look perfect. The rally II wheels have been restored and have new (reproduction) center caps. The radio and gauges all work. The car isalso has an 8 track player totransport you back to the 70s. :) Yes, the clock works too!

Whether you intend to get this wagon out on the road, take it to shows and events, or just enjoy its presence in your collection - any time spent with this car is sure to bring smiles. This is not a car for the shy, as it gets complements everywhere it goes and invokes memories from admirers. This car is a head turner every time I have taken it out.It has been truly a fun ride for the whole family.

If you want something no one else has at the show, this is it!
