Willys 1962 Description
This is a 1962 Jeep Willys that I have owned for many years. I was going to keep it in the family, ut now I have decided to sell it because it's just been taking up room and I have no time to tinker with it. This Jeep was sitting for a very long time, nd the cylinders got some rust. My father, ho passed away a few years ago, id the rebuild on the engine (he is Mike in one of the pictures). He was an engine builder all of his life, nd this was the very last engine he rebuilt, hich is why it's kind of hard to let this piece go. It was down to the bare block, as bored by Red's Machine Shop (where he worked when he was young), nd he installed all new pistons, ings, od/main bearings, am bearings, tc. Crankshaft was perfect, o it just had the journals polished. Head was reconditioned, alve seats in block were refinished, ith new valve guides and valves installed. The carb was disassembled, leaned and rebuilt. Radiator was re-cored. The engine fires right up absolutely purrs once it's warmed up. It has a new 12 volt alternator and was converted from 6 volt, ith a new 12 volt distributor with sold state electronic ignition, long with new plug wires. It has a reconditioned starter. It has a new clutch and pressure plate, nd the flywheel was machined. It has all new wheel cylinders and brake shoes, nd brake hardware (springs, tc.). Master cylinder was rebuilt. I may have missed some things, ut as you can see, t's had a lot of work done to it.It needs a paint job and some misc. detail work. The right rear wheel has a wobble to it, ut I was going to put stock wheels on it eventually, ut didn't get around to it. You could probably do the same, r just get it straightened perhaps. I have a clean Pennsylvania title, nd it passed inspection last summer. I equipped it with a PA Classic Vehicle tag.
If you don't know about these old Jeeps, have to tell you that they cannot go down the turnpike. They are made for back roads, arms, ields, r just cruising around town. I was going to keep it at my beach house eventually (I just need to buy a beach house... eventually). It would be great old Jeep for tooling around the beach or surf fishing.
I have the stock rear seat, nd some other doo-dads. This Jeep just needs a caring owner that will bring it to completion with a nice paint job and some detail work. All the hard (and expensive) work has been already done.
Bid to buy. If it doesn't get the starting price, 'll just keep it.
Thanks for looking.
